Flamethrower ISSUE!

ok.

i understand carrying a flamethrower and ammunition can be heavy… this is why you slow down when you use the flamethrower right? …

but then why when you scroll to your grenade or your handgun you can move faster again? you are still carrying the flamethrower and amunition …

my beef is. if the flamethrower is going to be slow… make it all slow. or remove the slowness from it… either way.

this happens with all heavy weapons not just the flamethrower

no doubt… but the question is why? the weight is still on your back even if your carry’ing the grenades or handgun or blades whatever…

I know what you are saying and to be fair i have to agree with you. The penelty should remain no matter what heavy weapon u use.

But who am i to say this.Switching to the nade is the way its always been in wolf.

First off, it is about game balance first, not realism. We could go on for days about what is unrealistic. Ammo packs, medic needlels, getting hit by a full clip from an SMG and living ?

All that said, it actually does make sense. Try running around with something big and heavy held in your arms in front of you. You will be slow and clumsy. Now try the same thing with the wait in a good backpack. With a little practice you can still be very fast and manuverable.

Er…

Take a 30 pounds of bricks and hold all of those bricks in your hand.

Now take the same amount of bricks and put them in your backpack. (Also keeping in mind you have had 6 weeks of physical training)

Do you see my point?

i do see your point.

not to be extra picky. but i would say that bricks are a little more awkward to carry than a flamethrower (considering you have the FUEL already on your back) … the wand would be the least of the weight.

to makle it more realistic the flamethroewer fuel should explode if the carrier gets hit from behind, you should be unable to refuel on the battlefield, eight short burst should be all you’ll have… would it be fun to play this character ? Nop.

You can run faster with a pistol but as soon als you encounter an enemy you either have to switch weapons first while the enemy is already lobbing bullet in your direction or defend yourself with the pistol only. So the advantage of running faster comes with the disadvantage of beeing more vulnerable.

when you are moving as slow as you are when carrying a flamethrower or any other heavy weapon, you are very easy to hit with any gun, including knife.

RTCW brought the feature of speeding soldiers up when they change to nade / pistol or knife so it would stop the team getting blocked in doorways or being slowed down in hallways and so on,also it was done to speed up the gameplay.

Iam sure u would hear people moaning and complaining about being stopped or blocked cos of a soldier was in the way with his slow speed and it would soon become very anoying.

IMO the soldier class is fine with the way it has always been done when it comes to speed.
