I’m level 14 and I’ve seen two definite cheaters, and 3 ‘maybes’.
As far as I can tell they really aren’t that common.
And the thing about the ‘maybes’ is that if they aren’t clearly abusing their power then their affect on the game isn’t very different from someone who is just an extremely good player.
I know it’s annoying, and we should definitely report them, but it doesn’t actually ruin the game.
Also, I’ve seen far more allegations of haxing that don’t seem to have any evidence supporting them, than I have seen actual haxors.
And come on guys, in what way is reporting them difficult? All you need to do is send an email to tech support.
Or at least that used to be the way, apparently they are changing to some new system now?
@MissMurder what is the official method of reporting haxors?
In any event here is my plan for dealing with proven haxors:
Ban them from the online version of EVERY GAME THEY HAVE ON STEAM.
Like it?
See, now that DB is on Steam there’s no reason why SD can’t get on board with Valve and work together to hit the haxors where it really hurts.
At the very least their Steam profile should carry an undeletable tag that says “This Player is a Confirmed Cheat and Game Hacker”.
Let them try and live that crap down.
(assuming they’re playing off a Steam account of course)
I do have two concerns though:
- We have to make sure that anyone who gets punished is a PROVEN haxor.
It seems like every time someone gets pwned in a duel they cry “HAX!” I play with a very high ping, so naturally I get accused of hax from time to time (mostly by people who don’t know how anti-lag works).
If we’re going to start punishing people we need to be sure.
- We can’t make the reporting feature too easy.
Seriously. If reporting someone for hax is as simple as pressing a button then tech support is going to spammed to death under a tide of butthurt.
I think that sending an email is the perfect system. We all have access to it, it’s easy, but it isn’t so easy that people will do it frivolously.
