[FIX] ati performance - ADVANCED user - modded driver

(kilL_888) #1

i just installed a modified catalyst driver by a user from guru3d.

if you want to install these drivers, read the instructions. this is for advanced users only!

instructions:

download link for the driver:

you need 7-zip to extract the files:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/files/7-Zip/9.20/7z920-x64.msi/download

edit: tested it some more. it actually works. i used container city as a test. before the fix everytime i look over a larger area, my frames dropped down. now i have over 60fps all the time. (except theres a lot of action)

how i installed:

  1. driver sweeper to uninstall current drivers
  2. restart
  3. run genetix_cleanup (modded driver directory) as administrator
  4. install all programs when prompted during isntallation
  5. do not restart when prompted (keep reading the batch file output)
  6. run genetix_install
  7. after everything is installed (.net, directx, driver) you can restart your system

its not too hard, but read carefully before clicking on something you dont understand.

Thx dude, will give it a try later.

Edit:
looked a bit through… wow if you make a mistake you could crush your whole system xD

(Sheza) #3

It’s not a fix then, is it?

(kilL_888) #4

before i installed these drivers i had very poor frames in most areas. now i run above 60fps in most areas. for me this is a fix. but its not official. its a modded driver.

dude. plz read at least the posting dates of the forum post i linked above. these drivers where released before brink. they are not an exclusive fix for the brink problem. they are just modded drivers.

(kilL_888) #8

bump.

has anyone else tried this out? can anyone with an ati card and bad performance give some feedback plz?

this fixed the problem for me. i highly suggest you try this.

read and understand instructions before messing with this though!

Dont blame ati for this POS that SD made and is deciding not to support. Lying thieving ****s that they are.

I tried it. It didn’t really work. I uninstalled everything and ran driver sweeper like usual. When I reboot and run the genetix_cleanup batch file thing (as admin), it goes through all its little steps. It never installs nething though. After that is done i run the install cmd (as admin) and it goes through some more stuff. It never installs the CCC automatically though. I had to do that manually. I’m not sure If I am missing something or what. My hardware/software is:

i7-720QM
ATi mobility Radeon 5730
4 gigs or ram
Windows 7 64 bit

The ati driver installed though and I ran Brink, but it didn’t improve much. I do think I messed something up or something. I uninstalled it and went back to 10.12, which seems to work the best for me. These drivers seem to really vary from user to user. Thanks for posting this though, maybe it could help somebody else.

(kilL_888) #11

thats weired. it installed a whole bunch of stuff for me. .net framework, direct x and other things i cant recall. some microsoft runtimes i think. the dxdiag should also open at some state of the install.

about the ccc, you dont need to install this. the batch file convinced me that “we all love radeon pro”, so i installed that.

(SeptemberBorn) #12

Yeah, well, it ran a check on my DXdiag just to make sure it was working and the proper directx was installed, but all that is already good on my machine. Maybe I’ll try the Radeonpro thing. I’m kinda tired of tweakin’ this game though. I spent all weekend doing it. I went from like 9fps all the time to about 40-65FPS indoors and around 30-40 outside. Some lvls at certain angles it can dip to 25 or lower though.

(unforgiven91) #13

is the DL taking forever for anyone else? cause 2 hours for 182 mb seems a bit odd

(unforgiven91) #14

This totally works. I went from 12 fps to 45+

nice find. Now heres to hopin we get our legit ATI fix

its actually out already. the catalyst 11.5 rc3 fixed the performance issue for me and a lot of other people too apparently.

just found that this morning.

(PhYrE) #16

Went through all of it, Brink won’t start anymore for me after it: “Your current video card / driver combination does not support OpenGL 3.1 or higher”

And this news drivers (rc3) are better than the modded drivers ?

In all cases, thanks for the modded drivers, they improve my framerate.

I tried those yesterday and they didn’t work. I’m running on max gfx now with no issues. I’m keepin with this until I see something better.

yea, yesterday i did a quick run and they in fact improved my framerate in comparison to 11.5a rc1+2. played some more today but i rolled the rc3 back to the modded drivers.

they actually run best on my machine. still not perfect, but better than the official.

(kilL_888) #20

bumping again.

this driver works best for me. try it out if rc3 from ati doestn resolve the problem for you.
