But then WoW is all about handling your shortcuts, right? There is no movement or aim involved. You can’t compare such a game to a skill based shooter.
Jeez, can you be more clueless?
I think that would be way too powerful! My impression was it works the following way: You can cook grenades, but you can’t do anything else in that time (except movement). As there are no slots you do not actively select the grenade and the weapon switch is nearly instantly so you can shoot grenades out of the air. Depending on how it’s implemented it should be a good alternative to cooking grenades.

Is what i thought over night… like the latest call of duties… and it works well… middle mouse button is grenade for me on them with mouse5 as stun/flash (which doesnt need holding)
I thought since we can shoot when 1 hand is free that we could grenade while not hooked into smart.
would be nice :x
Jeez, can you be more clueless?
You may realise there is a question mark in my post. I never played it, so yeah I’m quite clueless when it comes to gameplay mechanics.
What I was trying to say is that WoW seems more like a game where micromanagement is important (hopefully I’m not insulting any RTS player with that statement). You cast spells, buff, debuff and give and receive damage. You have got a ton of abilities which have to be used in the right situations and therefor quite a lot of keybindings. Managing those abilities is the key to success. You don’t have to strafejump across the map or aim for headshots. You are not relying on consistent and precise mouse control. It’s a completely different skillset than in a FPS.

would be nice :x
“Oh snap! My clip is empty - wait a second - no problem my nade is timed just perfectly well.” I think they have to be separated for balancing reasons. You wouldn’t allow stroyup / -down while shooting either.
Hopefully we will see more info on that in upcoming videos or posts on the forum (hint hint).

True up to a point. Even if you don’t have to aim like in a fps, you can’t shoot at targets behind you. Also the wasd keys are used allot because you have to chase enemies or run away from them. So apart from the aiming, it’s more like a fps than you can realize. You don’t just stand and cast spells like in Final Fantasy, unless you want to die very quickly. So yes, you run, strafe, use the mouse to move your camera, all while managing tons of abilities, either through shortcuts or icons on screen, or both.
/me re-looks at gameplay vids
its like cod.
which i still dont see the issue with :\

Because CoD is one of the most over-inflated games of all time. I personally find the multiplayer to be appallingly bad. Plus, CoD is not objective-centric.
My question is: can you still cook a grenade before throwing? Would suck if if not.
Back on the nade thing…
When cooking a grenade (g) you can’t use mouse1 to fire your gun anyway, so why not just use mouse1 for that action in the first place and keep your left hand in place where is should be? WASD
Also, switching to a grenade using a weaponbank(bind) is also better imo cause u can fire with your mouse1 as you are used to, and keep other mouse buttons (which else you have to use to grenade) free for other stuff, like VOIP or the SMART button. Otherwise you would need to get a new bind to do basicly the same thing, “_attack”, JUST for a grenade. (which whenever you nade slot is emtpy becomes useless and a waste of a “free” key)
RtCW had it, W:ET had it (you guys should know), ET:QW had it (you guys should know again).
Wolfenstein did NOT have it and look what happend to that game, lol. So WHY change it in Brink??
And you say it’s because of keeping it fast paced. Well, it doesn’t go much faster then what W:ET was, which HAD the weaponbank.
Yea, but u might want to drop out some medpacks before, so that when u get shot u just have to run over them. Context swapping tools really blows. Countless times in Wolfenstein where I wanted to plant or something and it doesn’t work and I got an ammo pack instead -_-
I love how the game looks etc, just don’t scare me with this kind of “stuff”…
And I didn’t got a reply on this one yet. (Sorry im such a douchebag :P)
Believe me, I would pre-order the game right now if it was possible

Who said that you can’t fire while cooking?
I was talking to Ryan, in reply to what you quoted from him. Sorry for the confusion.
Well, is he speaking the truth? You can’t shoot while cooking?
Go watch this video at 2:25 min and tell me if the guy doesn’t swap his gun to unpin the grenade?
Yay for people who don’t watch the ingame footage
@light_shavor
You’re right, dunno then, someone said you could use your gun with a grenade in your hand.

I found a better example @ http://brinkthegame.com/#/videos/container_city2/ <-- 0:47 Where he actually is cooking. So no, I don’t think u can shoot and cook a nade at the same time anyway.
So use the proper bindings please SD
Otherwise BrinkPro would have to fix it anyway
like with Wolfenstein and Wolfpro.
First thing they did was bind (the tools) to weaponbanks.
Does using a gun while pulling a grenade pin make sense? Perhaps, if one uses their teeth.
