Field Op's Air Strike Smoke Grenade Causes Damage Indoors?

(HillBilly) #1

Not talking about splash damage coming in from air strikes outside .

I’ve wondered about this for a while now. Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere. When a field op throws his air strike grenade indoors, obviously the pilot reports he can’t see the target and aborts, but the thing still blows up (or there’s a “false” initial air strike explosion?) and gives off about a nade’s worth of damage all by itself.

Why?

Am I wrong and it’s not just a smoke nade? It has an explosive component to it as well? Or is that just the way the game code is written and it has to give off an initial explosion before it aborts?

The nade’s damage itself should be disabled indoors if it’s possible.

Anyone?

the grenade explodes. kinda dumb, but oh well…

Yeah it’s the cannister exploding. It’s dumb, but at least it means the field ops energy isnt completely wasted.

It kills the one standing over the smoke grenade to block the air strike when in open air.

U just have to be quick

Has someone tried to put dome other object over the smoke grenade?

Tank, unsetted mine, corpse, medkit, ammo pack?

In gold rush I tryed to hide the axis smoke with cov ops smoke but air strike occurs anyway :???: never tried with an object.

If you run off as soon as you hear the planes, you take no damage and it’s still cancelled.

A medic with full health doesn’t die from the grenade blowing up. If you’re practicing blocking air strikes being a medic will help you take it one step at a time.

I haven’t tried objects, but the tank will block the LOS check if it gets under the treads. If its moving, you can have instances where open smoke canisters get blocked during the LOS check, and sometimes the tank drives over the canister so that its “visible” by the time the check is made.
