FG42

http://www.rtcwonline.com/dummies/images/weapontable.jpg. Nope, no more damage.

B_Pistoff - Thanks for the history lesson, but none of that applies to ET. In ET, at least in my experience, the Garand is indeed a pile of crap. Whether or not it was in WWII is irrelevant.

(DieHard) #22

Yes but the garand doesn’t have that many recoil so you are able to snipe way faster then with the k43 wich has great recoil

Another topic blast from the past :moo:

ahh… blast from the past…

anyways, since this time has passed, I learned to love the FG42. It’s clearly the superior combat weapon for a Covert Op. If you plan on killing a medic 1vs1, a Sten is by no means gonna get cut it. You’re gonna need the fast firing FG42, or the power of one of Rifles. (Which I’ve also learned to love)

And I’ve come to conclude that ppl who say the FG42 is inaccurate, just suck and can’t aim properly with any weapon anyways. I get the same amount of headshots and overall accuracy with an FG42 as with an SMG. Sure it may be a LITTLE bit more inaccurate, but the margin is by no means large enough to warrant it a credible reason to why you hate it.

sometimes when im in a crazy mood i go cov ops… i like the fg42 for close combat, i use the pistol { and later on duel weild pistols } for long lange { sniping with the fg42 for long range sniping ofcourse }

Going up against the FG42 you can just step back and increase the distance which plays to the FG42’s horrible spread with extended fire. At medium range you simply won’t hit enough with the smallish clip to remain competitive with SMGs.

Not to say it doesn’t have its advantages. Close range you can rip though just about anyone. But the K43 has a similar spread issue, and while it carries fewer rounds it deals much more damage. Pretty much any circumstance where you would use the FG42, the K43 will probably do it better.

The Garand? Well, sure, go with the FG42. =)

But you all forgot that the garand when sniping doesn’t have that many recoil.

In the past i extensevly used the rifle. I was pretty good with it close-combat. Now i have learned to love the sten.

FG42 is good only close up or long range if you are hidden so the enemy wont shoot you back. One big drawback is that it isnt silenced - enemy can hear where you are and return fire very fast

The rifle is good close up to a bit longer range than fg42, less bullets and slower shooting but the damage of bullets make it up or
very long range where the enemy cant see you.

But the sten - I love it, for very long range its great. Just keep moving and the enemy sniper wont hit you. Normal SMG-s are too inaccurate for you. Medium range is good too, just aim for the head, you might miss more but the damage it does to head makes it up very well. For close up, it isnt as good as other 2 but i have killed many medics with it, just burst fire and try to hit the head, it only does about 14-15 damage to body versus 40-50 to head so its very important.
And its silenced so often the enemy will get confused and cant hear where are you shooting from.

I like rifles, but i also like to move alot so sten is the choice for me.

If you want to take the FG42, better take the rifle and learn to click very fast

(Ranstaton) #29

I don’t know why, but for some reason, on one of my computars, you can only fire the rifle so fast. But with the one I’m using right now I can fire as fast as I can click.

(Fusen) #30

its the worst sniper rifle there is when I use K43 and can take people out in half the time the other snipers do with FG42 can also K43 is good in close combat as long as you can jump like a frog around your enemy but still keep crosshair on them but seriously the FG42 is pathetic with sniping I’ve sene people take 3-4 shots and still not kill enemy yet I wip out the K43 and kill them in 2 shots

FG42 is the best covops weapon.

Inaccurate, yes, but as long as you don’t “spray and pray”, getting kills with it are no problem, even at medium range.

*aim-burst-aim-burst-aim-burst KILL

And it is, of course, unmatched in close quarters. That ROF mows people down.

({PiQ} Apoch) #33

When I’m not sniping, I always go FG42. The sten is nice but just can’t deal out damage fast enough to take down a good player. Generally as a covop my mentality is to sneak around and get close to my targets before revealing myself, so I rarely have to deal with the poor accuracy, and I generally average 35-40% with it (comparable to my accuracy with regular SMGs). The scoped mode is often useful when you’re a bit back from a firefight and you can provide some good support fire. In the confusion chances are you won’t be noticed, and even the minimal damage can tip the scales of a fight. It definitely takes skill and smarts to use properly, but the way I see it, if you can’t position yourself to take advantage of the FG42’s strengths, you have no business playing covert op.

(Cyber-Knight) #34

i don’t know why ppl use the argument about the Sten: “it’s good if you can get headshots”.

What? is there some sorta rule that you only aim for the head with a Sten, and for every other weapon, you don’t aim for the head?

I still get the same amount of headshots and such if I’m using an MP40, Thompson, Sten, or FG42. I’m always aiming for the head regardless, and so I should be. The Sten isn’t a headshot weapon, they are all headshot weapons.

({PiQ} Apoch) #35

The point is, the Sten is less than worthless if you aren’t getting headshots, since it does next to no damage. Either you have to have a good diversion to keep enemy fire off of you, or you need to be hitting the head.
