FFS - don't plant mines at the footbridge!

(damocles) #1

Was playing on fuel dump today and some twit decided that he should prevent the enemy building the footbridge by placing 9 mines all around the construction boxes. Only problem was, not one allied soldier ventured to the footbridge all match. Once they blew the tunnel doors, we the Axis had to try and defend the fuel dump with 1 mine spare. In the end I went and suicided myself on the mines (running as fast as I could across them to get as many as possible) just so we could defend the base properly.

so in case you don’t get the moral of the story:

DON’T PLANT MORE THAN 2 FECKING MINES AT THE FOOTBRIDGE!!!

That’s why an experienced engie should choose to go ahead and choose to spawn at the depot from the get-go, to build the fortress and lay proper minefields in the correct places before some noob engie can waste mines with such silliness as you describe.

Good point, but what about the newbie engineers who decide to disarm your well placed mines to put in really bad positions, now thats annyoing :frowning:

a suicide was unnesicary, get chuck a satchel down

Nah, you shouldn’t spawn there from the start. A good engie should go and build the tower and command post to give extra defense at the bridge. Then in their next life they can spawn at the defences and build them. If you get the chance, a good engie should be mining the tank bridge constructible boxes. If you start the game at the defences, you’re leacing your team a gun down at the start, and it’s at the start when borth teams will face off in full force. After that, the forces become staggered due to spawning and it’s safer to leave the team a gun down.

Do satchels destroy your own teams mines? I thought you could only destroy the mines of the other team once discovered…

All mines will be exploded by grenades, satchels, airstrikes, etc. once they have been spotted by the enemy team. So if you want to check if your mines are already spotted by the enemy throw a granade at them from time to time.

Yeah so I couldn’t have satchelled them because no-one even stepped foot there, let alone went on a spotting spree.

It wouldn’t have really mattered. If he grenaded the mines, and they blew, it would have been logical to /kill. If he stepped on the mines, he kills himself. Made no difference in the situation.

BTW, ragnar is right :drink:

I always put one mine in front of axis command post if on axis. Not many cov ops check there.
