I know its early days but so far its promising, just needs a bit of icing on the cake
-) Sounds of the MP40, Thompson, Knife need to be changed, at the moment it doesnt feel like firing a weapon at all. MG42 sound is really nice however. The MP40 in the original rtcw sounded very real and powerful when firing it.
-) Connecting to servers has changed, before you could type /connect x.x.x.x and it would continually try to connect to that server. ET tries to connect and then asks you if you want to try reconnecting with a dialog box. Especially annoying if many of the servers are full of players on releaseā¦
-) Intro animation still plays with cvar com_introplayed set to ā1ā
-) Most people have learnt many of the quick voice chat combinations in the original wolf. Quite a few of the quick voice chat combinations have been changed, so I cant see many people wanting to learn the new combinations. I also think Splash Damage should increase the loudness of the voice chat .wav files, while playing the game its quite hard to hear some of them.
-) The position of the Refresh List button on the Play Online screen should be swapped with the Disable Punkbuster button. i.e moved to the bottom right of the screen just above join server, because Im awkward :).
-) I also cant quite put my finger on it, but when players die the animation seems different to the original rtcw.
-) Seems slightly laggier than the original rtcw. Maybe due to a lower FPS, on my pc it can go down to 25fps (1ghz/gf3) :(. Im sure once we mastered out configs the fps should be a little better!
On a positive note
+) The MG42 is much better
+) The graphics are nice
+) Crosshairs/blood/complaint popup are like OSP so I hope a new patch comes out for Wolf which adds those features
+) Prone position is a nice addition to the game
+) New weapons are nice, perhaps the mortar could do with some better physics code. I think the mines were implemented very well.
+) Statistics screen at the end is very sweet
+) Replays are much better \o/
+) More maps to come
+) Its free!
Hopefully its seen as constructive criticism :drink:
