There’s two discussions here. One is silhouette diversity for gameplay purposes and one is about displaying women in a socially responsible way.
Nader has quite a large silhouette while being a rather slim character so even if you want all girls to be attractive then there’s a way to get silhouette diversity. And that’s beside the point that having female characters among male characters already greatly widens the scope of possible silhouettes.
Then there’s the social responsible factor on displaying body-types and attractiveness. In that light I don’t think every female character has to be some supermodel just like not every male merc isn’t that ‘dashing’ either.
Now to that should also be added that there’s a difference between ‘character aesthetic’ and ‘design aesthetic’. Some games try to create a ‘hot’ character that’s been designed horribly and some games have a ‘rugged’ character that has been designed really well (Brink comes to mind). So even if you go with more ehm, ‘rugby’ like women, there’s still ways to make them characterful and give them their own flair.
Anyway, yeah, bit of a sensitive topic to discuss considering how controversial women and gaming has been in the past.
