Feedback Wanted: Dirty Bomb's Updated Look

(Vahl) #41

We have both systems in place, now it’s up to the design team to decide so I wont talk for them, but the way we do things usually is we test that out with you guys, see what you prefer and go for that

Yeah the home and away “kit” is pretty much the idea there, right now we’re thinking that you’ll buy the two skins as one package but will be able to decide which one of your bright skins is your “home” and which of your dark skins is your “away” in case you buy several skins kits.

Here’s a wild idea, make it a player option.

Team colours mode:
Traditional - Attackers light and defenders dark
Modern - Friends light and foes dark
These screenshots look fantastic! Definitely makes the game look exciting and interesting. Also, the colors look really sharp and vibrant! I knew the art team has always been fantastic, it was just translating that to an in-game experience.

Are these wallpapers? I am dying to update dirtybombers.com!

By the way, dirtybombgame.com seems to be down at the moment.
These are screenshots though no one’s going to arrest you if you use them as wallpapers.

I believe the site is having DNS issues - our techies are looking into it. Using https://secure.warchest.com/dirtybomb still works fine btw.

Roger that, badman. When can I release these screenshots into the wild and make them a post on dirtybombers? Or are these just for alpha users right now?

(.FROST.) #45

Same here. The pics make DB look a bit more brinkish. Hope that that will finally translate a bit more into the actual game.

(Kl3ppy) #46

Im not sure if its good that DB reminds from the optical pov at Brink. Brink is not known for a very good game, I would try to keep the connections between the 2 games as low as possible. SD didnt name Brink in the trailer, they just stated SD, the creator of W:ET and ET:QW

(badman) #47

(Both games we built specifically for PC. :D)

(Kl3ppy) #48

hehe badman, nice answer

(Wezelkrozum) #49

I tried to mimic the look of the screenshots with some adjustments in SweetFX. So this should probably give you an idea of how it will really look in the next patch. (Plus I can already enjoy the new look! It is a huge improvement!)

(tokamak) #50

I still remember one of my earlier Raven Shield games where I wiped out my entire friendly team because I somehow got in my head that I was fighting against them because that was the colour I was playing against in the previous game.

So please, make it friendly bright / enemy dark

Two reasons:

 • Players don’t need to know their role on the map in order to recognise targets
 • It’s simply more fair. There’s no colour bias. You look the same to the enemy as the enemy looks to you.

(Mustang) #51

Is it just me or does Wezelkrozum’s screenshot actually look better than it’s companion?

(Dragonji) #52

He used a 3rd party tool that (AFAIK) injects DX files to modify colours in the game.

(Mustang) #53

I know what SweetFX is, I’m just saying that to me it looks better what he’s done.

(Dragonji) #54

Not a big difference in my opinion, but I do agree it looks better because it’s fog-free.

(Wezelkrozum) #55

(tokamak) #56

To me it doesn’t. Yes the colours are more clear and everything is sharper, but it has less atmospheric processing, in other words, Wezelkrozum’s looks more current-generation than next-generation.

Some people may prefer that but to me it looks much more artificial and less alive.

(.FROST.) #57

Hmm, maybe the next time I write something about BRINK, or compare something to it, there will be only B**** written in the actual reply, because of the inbuilt harsh language corrector :frowning:

But seriously, I can understand why SD wouldn’t name BRINK; maybe it was because, it wasn’t a huge success in terms of the community. Actually the community started to die out the moment everyone last one had his, or her copy. But maybe another reason, for not naming BRINK, was the simple fact, that BRINK is still Bethesda’s property, or something like that. Of course I don’t know, but I hope it’s the later one, since after all SD has no reason to be ashamed of it, just because not everyone got the idea of Brink, or bothered to try something new and stick to it for a while even though it wasn’t allready entirely perfect back then.
Based on all of the feedback we’ve had over the past few weeks and months, we’ve been tinkering with the atmosphere settings in the game to create a look that helps the characters stand out more.

vahl already showed some of this stuff in a different thread a few days ago, and now London Bridge is the first map to have gotten this treatment on our end. We’ve created a few new marketing screenshots to show it off - have a look at them below and let us know what you think!

i have to say who the **** cares? There are things much more important to do!!!

(Anti) #59

What environment art work is more important than the environment artists making the environment easily readable?

(INF3RN0) #60

Don’t you realize that they have people who can only work on one part of the game lol… unless you want a plumber building your house idk.
