Failed to authenticate (veteran here)

Hello guys and gals :smiley:
I wanted to play a GOOD FPS and reinstaled my ETQW. I’ve pachted it and updated my pb to 1.5 or 1.6 something like that. Made a new account, and every time i try to connect to a server my game minimalizes, it acts like it launches a new game, comes back to the previous game and the error “failed to authenticate” pops up on my screen and i have to relog to do anything.
Any ideas what’s wrong? And how to fix it? Im not uber pro with a PC so explain this to me as if I’m a potato or a rock.
I have Windows 7 x86.

Can you provide screenshots of the error message?

Well there is no way i can get that screenshot cause with prt sc button i capture only the desktop and recording program wont ever record it.
It says in translation: Cannot connect to the web/online services.
And 2nd message is: please log in. But im logged in. If its important i will reinstal game on English version and i will try with everything to get a screenshot of that message.

maybe you are choosing the wrong type of server for 1st try.

try a “campaign” one, instead of “etqwpro”.

this wont fix anything, but will prevent the minimalizing of the game.

I was picking the Campaign cause its too early for etqwpro for me i havent played in 2 years…
I’ve tried to connect to the server that has way to high ping for me (around 300…) and i did connect i have NO idea what is wrong. All server with ping ~70 are unconnectable for me.

Wait, at first you said you can’t even authenticate and now you can connect on a server?

yeah it was one single time with a random selected server and that never happend again. i have no idea how i managed to do that.

Sounds like you tried to connect to a server with a mod on. ETQW only starts up new when you’re loading a mod.
Are you sure the same happens when you connect to a vanilla server?

Oh it does? I’ve tried to connect to a “campaign” game but maybe it had a custom map or something… Well i will try to find out more about it. I’ve connected to a game 2nd time and it kicked me out after like 3 or 4 kills (~2minutes). With PB error and this is wierd because i’ve patched it manually with files and done the pb_security 0 command.

That’s not weird, that’s the normal PB hassle. Try to get the PB files from a friend who has no problems.
