PS:Things are tough in my country:<[/QUOTE]

If I were the police I would have opened fire on the crowd after that first molotov

(brbrbr) #22

thats WHY you not police.
non-lethal incapacitating devices, used at that stage of disordders - from sticky nets, tear gas to infrasonic, water gun and maybe rubber bullets on some most offensive persons,
with exceptions only for guys with lethal firearms - they incapacitated whatever tool necessarily[bullets, batons, whatver].

(tokamak) #23

Well too bad for you Kadhafi ain’t hiring any more.

(Crytiqal) #24

No I guess your right, when you get hit in the head by a molotov you should spray some water on the protestor

And I never said anything about lethal weapon abuse, so I find your post rather offensive tokamak

(MrX) #25

You know i was there .That nice policeman was coming to ram some ppl .So no he deserved that:>

(Nail) #26

Sorry, no one at any time deserves that, the concept that it could be justified in any way is rediculous

(MrX) #27

It is not .Have u ever been in this situation ,protesting ?You know how its like to breath gas or getting bitten by 3 policemen without having done anything.Policemen sometimes forget what are they being paid for .That guy was coming with full speed to ram 2 ppl i was in the other corner when that happened. He had it coming .

(Ajax's Spear) #28

That’s horsecrap. It may not be justifiable all the time, like if it’s just a case of civil unrest and the cops are only trying to maintain a presence and keep order, but look at somewhere like Libya right now. If cops and/or mercs are working as agents of oppressive regimes, they are just as culpable as the people calling the shots. Especially in this case, where Gadhafi has essentially declared war on the citizenry. What are they supposed to do, ignore what are now “enemy combatants” while they march their way to the capital?

(Nail) #29

“Especially in this case, where Gadhafi has essentially declared war on the citizenry”

the clip is from Athens, Greece

I realize that, which is why I said:

but look at somewhere like Libya right now.

before that, and was what I was referring to.

her derp.

(Nail) #31

how does that justify the firebombing of a police officer in Athens, Greece ?

(MrX) #32

And how shooting a 16 year old and killed is justified by police?Im against violence but if someone comes to hit u you are not going to react in a violent manner? You should also know that these are not police officers they are different. They are called MAT here in greece which is special police unit for controlling crowds and act violently to do so .Things are not just as simple as you think. The guy provoked the crowd with his behaviour.Did u see where the fellow policemen where ?They didnt go raming with a motorcycle and holding sticks in order to hit the crowd .His intentions were wrong and he was countered with a molotov in his head.He didnt burn cause his equipment is for these situations .

(Ajax's Spear) #33

I didn’t say it did. You said it was NEVER justifiable:

I gave a situation in which it certainly is.

(MrX) #34

Ajax’s Spear got the point imo:>

(Slade05) #35

What I always see in this kind of discussions is a good lot of people tend to put themselves in shoes of those enforcement guys, with those riot shields and teargas cans.

Wake up I say, we`re all on the receiving end of a gun, just a fodder for those in a helicopter who will retrojusitfy any atrocity they commit in the unlikely event of investigation.

(Apples) #36

Cops are pig, seen 4 of them dumping a 100 lbs gal on the street and hitting her with their boots… I mean cmon, I alone can take this girl down, do you really need to be 4 to restrain her? and it wasnt even restraining, it was free violence, I went in the middle and got hit myself for that (was during a student “riot”)… You can’t justify violence, especially free one…

Peace!

Seeing as this is a thread in the brink forums, let’s not discuss whether irl cops are awesome/good/bad/suck. If you really want to, start a thread in the off-topic forums.

Thanks!

This thread is now a microcosm of Brink resistance vs security theme so it’s on topic

(tokamak) #39

The same way a Resistance guy would justify on the Ark.

(Herandar) #40

It’s ‘Al Qaeda and drug-addled young people’, not citizens… Didn’t you listen to what the old man said?

Seriously though, it’s like the old curmudgeon on the block is blaming kids who don’t wear a belt and you can see their underwear for inciting violence. And then he wonders why no one is supporting him. The sooner he flees Libya, the better.
