(evilsock) #43

(SCDS_reyalP) #44

Step 1

  • insert linux CD :moo:

(Mr_Tickles) #45

Lol, yep, I’ve tried before. Wasn’t getting anywhere uninstalling it… So I decided to simply delete the file. The next day the file was back… I deleted it again, waited about 10 seconds and the damn thing reappeared in the folder! Right in front of my eyes!

(Depth_Charge) #46

Thats windows repairing itself
Search in system folders and delete the backup executable

(nUllSkillZ) #47

You have to deactivate the ā€œsystem restorationā€ (don’t know the english term - just translated).
At one’s own risk.

Edit:

And activate it again after getting rid of viruses, spyware, adware etc. .

(Sick Boy) #48

Well it is possible to remove IE , outlook express, windows address book and other crap you DO NOT want to have…
for win 9x : http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html
for win2000/XP : buy this: http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html

(evilsock) #50

So your trying to tell me shudders that MicroSoft told lies in court when they said it wasn’t possible to ā€˜de-integrate’ their Mosaic variant from the O/S?

Sickboy > M$

(nUllSkillZ) #51

Hmm, I’ve forgotten to mention that I have Windows XP.
I have the german version so all of the terms are translated:
start -> (adjustment, settings) -> system control -> double click system
A dialog window will open.
Choose system restoration.
Select ā€œsystem restoration deactivatedā€.
If you want to activate system restoration just unselect this option.

(Sick Boy) #52

Hmm… yes… I must be wrong then, if Microsoft said so it surely can’t be a lie :weird:

(Depth_Charge) #53

Ty nUllSkillZ i never saw that option before
Now i can use all themes ^^ (**** window blinds it slows my comp down)

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #54

(evilsock) #55

@ Sickboy [sarcasm] Liar! [/sarcasm]

(Depth_Charge) #56

your so cool man [/sarcasm]

(funkPig) #57

You may not want to uninstall IE yet though. I have noticed that some of my favorite internet sites like launch.yahoo.com for example will not work without using the Internet Exploder. Also, if you are running msn messenger, you cant get rid of ie either.

(Depth_Charge) #58

Don’t get rid of anything that comes with Windows it always ****s something up heh

(Maximus191) #59

Best keep IE so you can still do your windows updates
