Hi when is this new game mode planned?

for me the game is too chaotic… its like team deathmatch gone mental…

I played MOHAA on clanbase for years and the main game mode was objective, meaning that you have to defend or complete an objective and when shot you remained dead untill the round was over.

the way points where atributed was like this: 2 maps of 2x 7 rounds (once as attackers and once as defenders) so a total of 28 rounds… 15-13 was the closest win for a team.

a round was won either like this:

  • succesfully defend the objective = round goes to the defenders
  • complete the objective = round for the attackers
  • eliminate the opponents team = point for the team that has eliminated the other team.

I don’t know if I am making any sense but that is what I like about competitive play… I would love to see this in execution mode because the modes now I just veeeery much DISlike… it is all too chaotic and nervous (and it has nothing to do with the movement speed) with the current game modes… I won’t be playing the game competitivly if stopwatch and objective are the modes available…

SO my question:

  • what will execution look like as a game mode?
  • does anyone else feel this way and want to share their opinion? please do!!

    hello there!!

Execution mode was around several monthes ago. and some ppl did play that.
I personally dont like the repepitive gameplay on small maps. i mean 10 times playing 1 map, and be dead for more than 30 seconds?? not my cup of tea.
THe good thing was, that there happen to be some realy good maps there.

well that is my cup of tea :stuck_out_tongue: It is sooo tense and you need good team work, tactics and communication!

I hope they bring that mode back

I agree. It’s due to the fast spawn-rates, high mobility, low ttk and very little consequence for dying.

It’s something that has to be solved within objective though, skipping to a new mode entirely is not a real solution.

I loved Execution but it was hard to fill up the servers to Glottis point. It does get quite repetitive. No set objectives just kill… We had it for a few months when the sniper went to one headshot gib/kill… That was pretty amazing to spawn run to a spot and try to insta kill people right when the match started…

THEN… SD put in shotguns and with the small maps it was a gg…

No Ojb or Side Obj…
Small Maps and OP shotguns = Muhhhh…

It is however a good change of pace. Need many more maps though… I think they had 2 or 3 only.

Oh yeah and Medics are uselss so they didnt want to jump in an revive a downed player because they would just die too… Its the same thing now… Nothing has changed…

There needs to be an objective though! Planting a bomb will do

I would be on that servers :stuck_out_tongue: winning a 1vs4 is awesome haha

about the repetitive thing… I think I must have played thousands of rounds on the same maps… it never felt repetitive too me it always a new round and you try new tactic/rush/ or w/e

True but this is DB… Lots of bugs, bad collisions, unbalanced mercs, crazy wall jumps, spam and bad performance… Execution got old fast… Especially like I said dinking people right as the map started… If medics were better then maybe have better team work and make gibbing more important. Dont get me started about gibbing either!! Rage Doll Bodies an never knowing how many bullets it will take… Ugh!

SD really hasnt touched Execution yet so I am sure once they get their hands on it and apply echo and community feedback it will rock! Great change of pace!!!

The tutorial where Skyhammer dies in the waste (sorry for the spoiler) and the announcer says something like “we can’t reach you from here so you can’t respawn, be there in a minute” gave me an idea.

This type of team-survival mode could actually be really easily integrated into objective mode like mini-rounds.

You do an objective like normal, ordinary respawns, then the next stage in the map has one-life limits. It’s basically a team-survival round where both attackers and defenders have to either kill the other team or (secondary) complete an objective (to avoid hide and seek), the map will proceed either way but the settings of this third stage will depend on how well the attackers performed in this middle-micro round.

So:

  • Phase 1: Normal respawns, Escort the EV and let it blow up the door to a big hall
  • (Micro) Phase 2: Team survival in the hall, the hall is filled with mini objectives for both the defenders and the attackers that drastically impact the geometry of the building (lifts and cranes move, walls and bridges are constructed or moved, tunnels are cleared of waste etc). Strict time limit
  • Phase 3: Normal respawns, all objectives are now fixed in the state that they’re left in during the last round (all controls are now radiated or whatever), teams fight to carry a container through the course they’ve wrought during the team-survival.

It’s basically a streamlined version of base race.

it is a nice idea although I still would like normal execution mode… Or stopwatch should surprise me in a non public environment… but for now it is not my kind of thing… I see it as a special TDM mode

Execution was by far the best game mode for DB when it was around. And it doesn’t matter how much we ask to bring a couple of Execution servers back, SD refuses to do that because they think it will distract us from testing the OBJ/SW modes. Which is absolutely wrong. You need to have a totally different mood to play sExecution and if I am in such mood at a certain point then I doubt I’d play the main modes anyway at that time.
Having no Execution means one reason less to launch DB for me, not that there are too many reasons nowadays anyway.

I never really got Execution, just felt like team deathmatch with a OLTL twist - didnt really get how it fitted with the mercs etc. But - I’m all for having differing game modes as that is the best way to ensure a wide playerbase, and it may even be the mode that best attracts and retains players for the initial period acting as a feeder to Objective and finally SW :slight_smile:

The issue is that it’s really difficult to have a single ranked ladder then.

at start i see some teams/players being Execution-only, and some teams/players being SW-only (like me and most of my friends).
And i think only little amount of players would realy commit to both modes competitively.

but at the end of the day there will be only one THE MODE. and all other modes.
i realy hope that THAT mode will be SW. but surely not in this form like we have now. maps, spawn times and tactical gameplay should be improved, so that SW can shine, like it did in ET and ETQW.

you are right. there will be the one mode that is more popular then others. I have to say that SW is growing on me… I liked my last few matches! Objective mode does not work atm imo
