(MissMurder) #1

For this weekend, starting at 17:00 UTC, Friday, May 1st and ending 17:00 UTC, Tuesday, May 5th, the prototype game mode Execution will be available for play in marked Dirty Bomb servers. This mode is designed to be a good jumping on point for Dirty Bomb, bringing in a familiar style of gameplay, but maintaining Dirty Bomb’s unique flair.

Event Duration
London (BST, UTC +1:00): 18:00, Friday, May 1st - 18:00, Tuesday, May 5th
Los Angeles (PDT, UTC -7:00): 10:00 AM, Friday, May 1st - 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 5th
Sydney (AEST, UTC +10:00): 3:00 AM, Saturday, May 2nd - 3:00 AM, Wednesday, May 6th

About Execution Mode
In Execution Mode, teams are trying to win the most out of 10 rounds. To win a round the attacking team needs to eliminate all enemy players or bomb one of the objectives; for the defenders to win the round, they have to stop them.

Execution Mode is played out over ten rounds, first to win six wins the match. In each round, the Attacking team is tasked with planting and defending C4 at one of two bomb sites, while the defenders must stop them from doing so, be it through defusing planted C4, or just killing anyone that tries to plant a bomb.

Win Conditions
A round is won if:

Attackers

 • The attackers kill all of the defenders
 • The attackers destroy one of the two objectives

Defenders
[] The defenders kill all the attackers and no C4 is currently active
[
] The defenders defuse a planted C4 before it goes off
[] The round time expires
[
] The first team to win 6 rounds is declared the victor for the match, ending even if all 10 rounds have not been played. If each team wins 5 rounds, it is declared a Draw. Individual rounds cannot end in a draw.
Team Sizes
Matches will be 7vs7 for this test.

Match Time & Rules
Each round has a time limit of 3:00. If C4 is not planted at one of the bomb sites before that timer expires, the Defending team wins the round. Only one C4 charge can be planted at a time, and the other bomb site becomes disabled once it is planted.

Once killed, players do not respawn until the next round. Players that are incapacitated but not finished can still be revived or helped up to continue fighting.

Half Time
After 5 rounds, the attacking and defending teams switch sides.

HUD
The objective HUD is in the top left of the screen and shows:

 1. The round timer
 2. The round number
 3. The number of players alive on each team
 4. The number of rounds won by each team
 5. If the bomb has been planted
 6. The bomb’s fuse progress

*We will be holding a special preview of the mode Thursday @ 21:00 UTC/2PM PDT on www.twitch.tv/dirtybomb - Don’t miss it!

About Prototype Showcase
Dirty Bomb will always have something new in development, and whether it’s a new map, mode, or something else there’s no replacement for the kind of feedback that our players can provide. As such, we will occasionally give limited sneak peeks of upcoming content in its prototype state, in order to ensure that it is of the highest possible quality when it is fully released.

Please remember that these features are in a prototype state. While everything should be playable and largely functional, there will be bugs, there will be imbalances, and there will be parts that are clearly unfinished. For this test, Execution Mode’s only map is in a Blockout status, using placeholder textures instead of full ones, and we are looking forward to what you think of this very different way to play Dirty Bomb, so please experiment and try out bizarre strategies.

Sounds good I think maybe increasing the rounds to win and also making it something like stopwatch or CS comp where you switch sides at halftime would make it more fair and fun.

Search and Destory!!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeees

(AdmiralTeddy) #5

this is the exact type of stuff that’ll help the game grow, new mercs, new maps, new modes, makes the game that much more fun, especially since you guys listen to the community as well and keep improving.

Thanks for an amazing game

I’m all for a LMS game mode as it ties in fairly well with the whole teamwork deal , just hope they don’t branch out to DM and TDM, the map looks decent too , i was expecting half of bridge/chapel/undeground etc , not a whole new map so thats great.

(MissMurder) #7

Can’t wait to hear how you like it

(DadoPeja) #8

This mode could actually be realy good for comp!
Edit: After i tryed -> NOPE !

(einstyle) #9

Sniper will be sick in this mode

this should definitely be 5v5, not 7v7, although that would explain why the map is so big

Having to play one mode as 5v5 and another as 7v7 is just going to be a nuisance for teams, but main problem is most definitely that 5v5 is more interesting due to each player having a bigger impact.
3 minutes also seems a lot too long, even for 7v7.

Really doubt my opinion on these will change by playing it, hopefully you’ll be willing to change it.

There’s also another point, something which I hate about the way you’re running this beta, and that’s that you’re letting us test thing for one weekend. Really don’t see the point in limiting it like this, testing something properly in one weekend isn’t going to allow for great feedback as people won’t be familiar with the map or gamemode and so it will take time for metas to develop, metas can completely change and so feedback may be incorrect in the long run
for example, it could seem like the game is too defender sided the first week, then in the second week people find a better way of attacking and the game becomes attacker sided. If you’d listened to feedback from only the first week, you would’ve made the game easier for attackers which would’ve backfired when people get better at the game.

You can modify stuff while it’s still in the game.

This will be thé game mode I think… The current ones with the current maps are mainly linear TDM… Very excited to try this out. Will probably need some tweaking (5v5, 2min per round, 30 rounds in total?) I also like the fact that completely new maps are used! Can’t wait to try it out.

(eXchance9) #13

nicee  i think this is gonna be awesomeee!!!

(MissMurder) #14

@Kroad @Ribero so when we’ve been testing internally 5v5 is how the matches are run through competitive matchmaking. The devs did decide on 7v7 for this round of testing but rest assured it’s not the end-all.

(ToonBE) #15

So we can also play execution 5v5 when using match making?

(Dwu) #16

I guess its good for people who like call of duty. I’m just hoping this won’t become the most popular gamemode and stuff doesn’t get balanced around this mode, and I’m pretty sure most of the people who played RTCW and ET in the past share my hopes.

(Kroad) #17

i really dont understand the thought process then

(Reddeadcap) #18

I can just imagine, Medics forgetting that they’re NEEDED to revive.
An entire team wipe thanks to a lone Skyhammer.
People throwing common sense out the window and trying to go toe to toe with a Fragger.
2-3 people dying against a Nader and an unlucky other tries to knife her.
This game mode just doesn’t seem fitting.

aka pubs, where winning doesn’t really matter anyway

Trying to get more info on the rhyme and reason for this as we speak.

So we can also play execution 5v5 when using match making?
It won’t be in the Matchmaking flow this time. The Execution button in the play hub will be activated during the event and you can use it to join a casual Execution server until the event ends.

@Kroad also we have these events for 4 days or so to see how they exist in the wild, evaluate, then make changes. The simple answer is the devs aren’t comfortable with them being out for good yet. Though most people know the game is in beta it’s still sometimes tricky explaining over and over again that these maps/modes are prototypes and players continuously ask why Dome isn’t textured, etc.

Tagging @R5on11c for visibility.
