ever seen map changes?

There is alot of controversy over certain maps as far as spawn camping and accessability to areas and so forth, has anyone ever seen a company change an environment?

If the were to make container city different at certain point such as entry and rooftop access etc. What do you think this would do for gameplay and/or the community once it got out that they were making things better thanks to a community opinion?

No flaming or trolling this is an opinion oriented discussion thread.

Here’s looking forward to the future,

I like the idea for getting to the roofs

One of the devs, Exo, said that they cannot change maps at this point sadly.

Thats disappointing hopefully the dlcs will serve nice maps
One of the devs, Exo, said that they cannot change maps at this point sadly.
Yes, it is, but hopefully through respawn tweaks they can adjust the flow of the maps.

Its probably licensing stuff that prohibits it, maybe with more and more DLC the maps will expand in depth. Sadly that would make maps like the origionals obsolete and frustrating most likely.

Only way to change an existing map is spawn times; no physical changes can be made unless after a Beta test. Epic changed Trenches and Trashball maps after the beta started because you could get spawn trapped. In Brink, CC seems to be a map people get trapped in; but its mostly the inexperienced who this happens to. We tore through every single map including CC last night. A good team just smashes the gate on the first try.

Im also hoping the maps in the dlcs will continue the story because i kinda have a feeling they wont
Its probably licensing stuff that prohibits it, maybe with more and more DLC the maps will expand in depth. They will have to, the story is the game unless they just made a map lobby which the aren’t.

(wolfnemesis75) #10

They will continue the story or be what-if missions or fill in gaps between the current maps.

I think it would help CC if you didn’t spawn in a pit, if they raised the entry way so resistance. didn’t have such a high vantage point that would help. They could also start from the second spawn and have to come through the building.

Blizzard have changed PVP maps in WoW before. Especially Alterac Valley. They’ve moved the starting points and changed how the entire thing plays completely.

But that’s an MMO.

My guess would be that it’d be way too much work and retesting to alter a map for Brink after release. All that work would be better spent in creating new content.

CC and Sectow are the home bases for each Faction, and should be tough as hell to complete, which they are. It really looks like they are specifically designed to be challenging. You are suppose to lose more than you win UNLESS you have a good team, then you will win more than you lose.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #14

I suppose that makes sense in its own self justifying kind of way.

(wolfnemesis75) #15

Strongholds should be just that: strongly defended.

Changing map entities like spawn positions and stuff is probably easier than say changing brush/model work.

In F.E.A.R. , Monolith changed positions of Med-kits and Armour but I haven’t seen maps changed in other games.

Valve and Blizzard are a couple of examples… the key is that they control their distribution method (Steam/Battle.net).
