ever seen map changes?

I’m confused, doesn’t Splash Damage use Steam? Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you are trying to say here.

Regardless, I don’t really see map changes for FPS games as critical as say map changes for a RTS game like StarCraft 2. Blizzard did a huge amount of map changes in the first few months after release, not just minor stuff but actual walkmesh and graphic changes (thinking specifically of them changing the size of ramps that faced a certain direction).

I think he means distribution methods that the particular company owns, so they can alter their games on the fly to whatever extent they please, regardless of update size issues. Blizzard uses Battle.net which is owned and operated by them and Valve does the same with Steam; so I’m guessing they have much more freedom then companies using their services like Splash Damage.

This is all spectulation and contains no actual facts.

What he is saying is SD has little control over the main distribution method used for their games… XboxLive and PSN.
Keep in mind, Brink is a game built for consoles and later ported to the PC. Valve and Blizzard make PC games so they don’t have the restrictions LIVE and PSN put on them.
There is alot of controversy over certain maps as far as spawn camping and accessability to areas and so forth, has anyone ever seen a company change an environment?

If the were to make container city different at certain point such as entry and rooftop access etc. What do you think this would do for gameplay and/or the community once it got out that they were making things better thanks to a community opinion?

No flaming or trolling this is an opinion oriented discussion thread.

In regards to your first question in Monday Night Combat on Xbox Live with the 1st DLC they modified every single map in game. They did this basically because snipers had it too easy and could just sit back in their base fully protected and snipe anyone anywhere. They added many walls and bridge supports, vents on top of the base that set ppl on fire to prevent them from getting up there, added jump pads, etc. So it certainly is possible in some titles to actually modify the maps post release.

This to, although his explanation is for consoles, mine I was thinking PC-wise.
thanks for posting.

thats pretty much ****ed up.
for the whine!

FWIW I haven’t been spawnraped on container city since the new update came out. Could just be coincidence.

(TwwIX) #28

In other words, we don’t have any say in this. Bethesda does.

(Spendlove) #29

I have not been stuck on CC as Security for ages. Its actually favourite map!

However, it does have a bad rep (probably from the pre PC patch days) and if the gate is not planted on first attempt you do get quite a few RQs from some people.

I have been held for huge amounts of time as the bot is almost at the container. So close! Yet so far…

CC is Brink’s rite of passage. You get spawn trapped and learn what not to do…if you get caught sleeping you are in trouble. Moral of the story: don’t sleep on the job.

that is a great idea would change things up for both sides

I’ve played with the usual 360 crew from here and we’ve NEVER been trapped on CC at the first wall. We’ll get a charge on the wall before the D can get close to setting up shop. If I’m running as an ops, I’m throwing a caltrops through the wall, and just setup shop through one of the glory holes. If I use my Engy, I’ve got a turret setup in the far corner covering the plant spot on the wall and if I can, I plant my 2 mines around the gap in the wall.

If we’re kicking butt on the D side, then we usually have fun killing, and then with 1 minute left, we let the security plant the charge.

I’ve seen a good Resistance team break out of a spawn camp too. It takes a couple of flash bangs and some coordination, but it’s been done.

On that note: A smoke grenade would be a great addition to this game, as long as the smoke also hid all hit-indicators and player icons.

(wolfnemesis75) #33

Not enough use flashbangs. Very underrated. A smoke bomb would’ve nice in this game. But then perhaps OP could hack and not be found in time…

then there’d be more rage quitters.

some sort of night vision that can look through the smoke for a very brief period of time, just enough to find it, and comms hack can also help

“we want to work on this.”
“Nien! you will work on this because of the more $$s!”
“stupid contract!”

(nick1021) #36

Don’t be giving them extra praise. Maybe they never wanted to work anything. Not until you have proof.
