Ever "redirected" a flying grenade?

This happened to me the other day. I was playing on Depot and as I rounded a corner in the tunnels, an Axis guy tossed a grenade directly in my face from a distance of about 10 feet. I was naturally shooting at him with my mg but the interesting thing was that as the grenade neared the end of my gun it was deflected from its trajectory and I watched in disbelief as it flew backwards (that’s right, BACKWARDS) toward the Axis guy who threw it, giving me just enough time to duck back around the corner before he was blown to bits. I have tried to recreate the situation without success. It would appear to have been just dumb luck because I certainly was not shooting at the grenade.

Has anyone else experienced this? I realize that the chances of such a thing happening are extremely low but it’s pretty cool that the game physics allow it.

Now if I could only learn to shoot a PF round back at the &$#er who fired it! :angry:

I would guess that the grenade bounced of your players bounding box, rather than being shot. I’ve don’t this a few times, though usually it was a friendly I bounced it off of.

Makes perfect sense…

I was wondering if it could have bounced off the wall, but it was “in my face” when it flew backwards so that would seem to be a rational explanation for it…

yeah, i’ve had a nade hit my nose a couple of times, however the power of thrown nades isn’t high enough usually to make them bounce right back, usually they fall at your feet. I have however seen some crazy nade action from RPG’s, they bounce all over the place some times before they kaboom after a second, or two.

I was an allied engineer with the rifle. I came to the tunnel exit nearest the fueldump and spied an axis laying fire towards the oncoming tank. I stepped back and loaded a rifle grenade, stepped forward, aimed, and shot, then an axis popped in the doorway - the nade bounced off him (he naturally darted back out of sight), and the nade landed delicately at my feet. BOOM! Back to limbo for me.

this used to happen to me in the sewers in Marketgarden ALL THE TIME.

I sit behind corner

I prime nade

I round corner

I throw nade at the group of baddies

Nade bounces off a helmet

I am dead
