[EVENT ENDED] Prototype Showcase: Execution Weekend #2

(Jostabeere) #21

Why are there no EUROPE execution servers?!? This is extremely unfair if you want to play this mode, I have to play on ASIA or SOUTH AMERICA with a 250 ping…

(ZGToRRent) #22

There are plenty of EU servers.

There are plenty of EU servers.

Not at that time ^^

(Ardez1) #24

The servers are hidden due to a bug in the server browser. Set the game mode to ALL and then type Execution in the server name filter.

Some thoughts on this mode, when plant is succesful your whole team should get some points and same thing on defense when bomb gets defused, currently I think you don’t get enough exp from the matches compared to what you get from other modes, not that it matters that much but still feels like it could be improved.

Edit: I think you maybe actually get some but I guess it could be more, or just more points for the kills, revives etc.

(JLeon15) #26

This mode is great! I really enjoy playing it.

(Aazhyd) #27

I noted that the XP displayed in game doesn’t fully count towards daily missions and possibly total XP. Only a small part is actually granted.

Also the grey environment makes it a bit hard to orientate. I know it’s a prototype, but coloring a few parts here and there (even if it’s oly one color) wouldn’t be that hard?

The grey map reminds me of a snowy environment. Wouldn’t that be a good idea, make this map into a winter snow map? Perhaps a snowman or santa claus here and there.

This gamemode is great keep it up splash damage

(Zita) #29

Really enjoyed the new game mode, would love to see this part of the Competitive side as well.

Like the fast pace of each round, found that ppl used the coms more which was great. Some really funny moments and this made more people talking and making stragagies.

Not sure if the move from 3 mins to 2 mins each round is good or not, only time will tell, I think it will depend on the maps that get put in and how big they are.

(Aazhyd) #30

I suggest making the timer 2:30.

(Daergar) #31

I assume I am not alone in wanting every single DB map to have this lack of textures?

It reminds me so much of the clean ET maps, you can focus on the enemy and gameplay and not have all the useless distractions.

I pray and hope that we can have a simple texture toggle option in the graphic settings for this very reason.

A pure joy to run around in the awesome white and grey.

(JohnzBallad) #32

I suggest more. Make the time 3:00 or 4:00. So both team can make a strategy and don’t fall in a reaction timing.

(Aazhyd) #33

It was 3:00 in a previous test, but apparently SD thought that was too long. So I suggest 2:30. Same as in AVA.

Nevertheless, this game mode is great and much more fun than I expected. I hope it will be back for good soon and with more maps to boot.

AVA’s map are smaller. Don’t even talk about it.

Strategy on execution mode is pretty simple: Find enemies and kill, never go alone and You will win every round.

Planting bomb as attacker is useless because you need to defend bomb for 50 seconds, you will kill enemies faster than waiting for explosion. You can replace enginner slot with another medic so for 5v5 match it is:

  • Vassili
  • Fragger
  • 3 medics
And actually, every team will play using this set. That’s why I think this mode is bad because there is no objective play at all, just team elimination like in most generic fps games.

Dirty Bomb want to go another path, that’s why veterans like Stopwatch because it reminds good ET times and it’s different point of view for FPS genre where you can win only with teamwork, timings, objective play. Fragging is only a secondary quest.

Tried Execution for a while, here is my feedback.

It is a nice addition to the game, it suits the CS playstyle so it is indeed a good marketing strategy to get a wider player base (which is often good) but unfortunately it’s not for me.
I fell in love with DB for its very different nature than the other shooters out there, for its fun objectives, for Stopwatch. This mode has objectives, yes, but as every mode of these type in other games, it becomes just an elimination round, which ruins the fun for me.

Of course, it’s my opinion, and I can just ignore the whole mode and never play it again, but I have one request: please, don’t replace Stopwatch with Execution in the competitive scene.

([ F² ! MADCAP ]) #37

what if they were to add more than one gametype for the competitive scene?

(sharpSubmarine) #38

@[ F² ! MADCAP ] I think the competitive mode should always have a very well studied and balanced game mode, adding another mode would mean an enormous addition of work to do. Also, having Stopwatch as the only competitive mode is actively contributing to make the game different from its main competitors, which in marketing terms, if done correctly, it’s always a good thing to do.

(Aazhyd) #39

I’m hoping Execution mode will stay and not be removed today. Please!

Also open a forum section on Execution mode.

As stated here couple of times, good call to experiment with gamemode similar to what other “more generic” fps’s have, did certainly get couple of my psychotical CS:GO fan friends pick up something else for once.

I though think when this mode goes all TDM is simply part of the gamemode and has to be accepted. 30 seconds on timer, 4on2, rest of the enemies location known? Why plant & wait for 50 secs when you can just introduce them to some projectile-related head trauma. If you wish to encourage planting more, maybe giving more points to the whole team for that (defuse too), and announcing it correctly. Just so it’ll be wide known fact and not only some rumour only ones that have caved into the game files know.

I might sound like making a huge issue of something very small, but I don’t have anything else from my short playthroughs to suggest about ^^’ Window frames. It felt tad too hard to hit people inside window, especially with nades (or throw HB sensor inside), which seemed to be magnetized to the frames and bounce off uselessly outside. I thought it this way; defender inside already has a) higher ground advantage b) walls on both of his sides to take cover to c) legs, even torso covered by windows lower wall. Maybe frames could be smaller or less tight. Other opinions? Or just useless trivial thing since there are indeed bigger issues to tackle now.
