For this weekend, starting at 17:00 UTC, Friday, June 19th and ending 17:00 UTC, Monday, June 22nd, the prototype game mode Execution will be available for play in marked Dirty Bomb servers. This mode is designed to be a good jumping on point for Dirty Bomb, bringing in a familiar style of gameplay, but maintaining Dirty Bomb’s unique flair.

Event Duration

  • London (BST, UTC +1:00): 18:00, Friday, June 19th - 18:00, Monday, June 22nd
  • Los Angeles (PDT, UTC -7:00): 10:00 AM, Friday, June 19th - 10:00 AM, Monday, June 22nd
  • Sydney (AEST, UTC +10:00): 3:00 AM, Saturday, June 20th - 3:00 AM, Tuesday, June 23rd

About Prototype Showcase
Dirty Bomb will always have something new in development, and whether it’s a new map, mode, or something else there’s no replacement for the kind of feedback that our players can provide. As such, we will occasionally give limited sneak peeks of upcoming content in its prototype state, in order to ensure that it is of the highest possible quality when it is fully released.

Please remember that these features are in a prototype state. While everything should be playable and largely functional, there will be bugs, there will be imbalances, and there will be parts that are clearly unfinished. For this test, Execution Mode’s only map is in a Blockout status, using placeholder textures instead of full ones, and we are looking forward to what you think of this very different way to play Dirty Bomb, so please experiment and try out bizarre strategies.

Changes from Previous Execution Test
This is our second such test, and we’d like to see how the game mode works with the following changes:

  • Round time has reduced to 2 minutes from 3 minutes.
  • Total rounds have increased to 12 from 10.

About Execution Mode:

In Execution Mode, teams are trying to win the most out of 12 rounds. To win a round the attacking team needs to eliminate all enemy players or bomb one of the objectives; for the defenders to win the round, they have to stop them.

Execution Mode is played out over 12 rounds, first to win seven wins the match. In each round, the Attacking team is tasked with planting and defending C4 at one of two bomb sites, while the defenders must stop them from doing so, be it through defusing planted C4, or just killing anyone that tries to plant a bomb.

Win Conditions
A round is won if:

Attackers

  • The attackers kill all of the defenders
  • The attackers destroy one of the two objectives

Defenders

  • The defenders kill all the attackers and no C4 is currently active
  • The defenders defuse a planted C4 before it goes off
  • The round time expires

The first team to win 7 rounds is declared the victor for the match, ending even if all 12 rounds have not been played. If each team wins 6 rounds, it is declared a Draw. Individual rounds cannot end in a draw.

Team Sizes
Matches will be 7vs7 for this test.

Match Time & Rules
Each round has a time limit of 2:00. If C4 is not planted at one of the bomb sites before that timer expires, the Defending team wins the round. Only one C4 charge can be planted at a time, and the other bomb site becomes disabled once it is planted.

Once killed, players do not respawn until the next round. Players that are incapacitated but not finished can still be revived or helped up to continue fighting.

Half Time
After 6 rounds, the attacking and defending teams switch sides.

HUD
The objective HUD is in the top left of the screen and shows:

  • The round timer
  • The round number
  • The number of players alive on each team
  • The number of rounds won by each team
  • If the bomb has been planted
  • The bomb’s fuse progress

Compared to CS GO, it shows why I love Dirty Bomb so much more. I love that fights aren’t about who has an awp at mid, or who is in the right spot and you have to know all the possible placements before you go in, so when you flash you can get the enemy before they have a chance to recover.

The fire fights in Dirty Bomb, at best, being in the right spot just gives you the first hit advantage, doesn’t guarantee you’ll win a fight, which I love. And the fights are fast paced, not that stupid stop and shoot crap.

In short, I love it, but just like CS GO you better have a great team.

(Ardez1) #7

So excited for this ^.^

(4Chan) #8

Love this gamemode. Maybe not unique but will offer an insanely amount of fun for the entire community.

(madCarrot) #9

If there were a way to swap loadout cards before rounds or even at the half (maybe choose from 3 pre-selected loadouts) like how you can change/buy weapons in CS it would add another layer of depth to the game mode.

It would be nice to see some tactical nades, though. Maybe have a merc dedicated to smokes and flashes?

(Nervous) #11

Only if the SMOKE is useful, the only game i think that got smoke correct was red orchestra, it was essential in some maps. So it needs to be thick smoke that cant be altered in graphic settings.

(Aazhyd) #12

Basically Search and Destroy from CoD or Demolition from AVA. These are definitely skill testers. Medics should be really important.

But why is it 12 rounds? To prevent draws, you can make it 11 or 13 rounds.

(eXchance9) #13

niceeeee  this mode is the best  but no changes on map??? and still everyone can plant a bomb? :stuck_out_tongue: that should be changed to one player has a bomb

(ZGToRRent) #14

Because you will play 6 rounds per side.

(Jan S.) #15

OK, if thats the reason for extended maintenance, I’m taking back everything I said yesterday. I was kinda angry because I haven’t got any time for DB and when I got it, nothing was working. Again, sorry for yesterday and I’m really looking forward to this.

Yeh, 6 + 6 =12, I can do the math. But it’s also possible to go 7-4 or 7-1 or whatever. A 6-6 result is just lame.

Other games that have this game mode usually have an uneven amount of rounds.

#17

Exe_Canal_Blockout hype?

(ZGToRRent) #18

CS:GO has 15 rounds per side and on CUPS, if You have draw 15-15, then you are playing 3 rounds per side.

Well, I’m not interested in Execution at all but I will try with team. I hope You changed prototype map a little bit to be more balanced cause last time most matches ends with 6-4 or 5-5.

(piranha_3) #19

I’ve played this mode is to play as a team with friends even more fun

It should be more defensive favored with the new time restriction of 2 minutes instead of 3. This will force the attackers to be less cautious and push harder. Might help, but might also make the problem worse. It depends on which team was winning more, but I don’t have those stats.
