Hello,
Someone of our clan made a petition to evenbalance that they will support ET again with Punkbuster.
It probably won’t help alot but hey, why not give it a try.
I hope you can all spread it out and sign it.
Chaos.

The support of EvenBalance for Enemy Territory is important because without the support the game doesn’t create an Etkey automaticly.
Without this Etkey the user does not have a guid and cannot be punnished in many mods.
LOL, please tell me this is a troll
Next time at least run it through a spell check. Normally I don’t say anything about this, but you’re writing something formal to a well known company.
Discontinuation of Punkbuster for Enemy Territory was the best thing that could’ve happened to this game. If Punkbuster were still around, it wouldn’t be possible to fix all those server/client bugs in the code, even though the complete source code has been available since 2010. Punkbuster forced us to use the old 2.60b version, now the community has a chance to develop ET 2.70.
And how many are using ET 2.70 exactly? Without PB in fact it needs more extra work to catch cheaters. We could have still used ET 2.70 without PB, no?
Not many people are using ET 2.70 as there hasn’t been any stable release yet. What I’m saying is that instead of being stuck with a six year old game which is getting harder and harder to run on linux, mac and even windows, we now have the opportunity to keep it alive and actually fix bugs. Punkbuster is the major reason why several promising projects were abandoned.
Partially true. However, server admins will have less things to worry about when running updated servers such as DoS attacks, overflows & their friends. And cheaters’ lives will get harder exponentially as the source code gets improved.
Hello All
Last week send a mail evenbalance and massage back
contact Activision for more information , i think Activision will not support ET mhmhmhmhmh
ET 2.70? And I’m not aware of it yet? >.>
Edit:
ET 2.70 = ET Legacy, so I know it, ah ^^’
I wrote ET 2.70 just to illustrate the point - it’s any version of ET with modified source code.
Yes, but I can thank you for letting me find out the page of your project, now searching the track button x)

In my point of view most of the promising projects where abandoned either because of modders going inactive or not many helpers or not much interest. Did PB contacted any modder to stop their project or sended any notice not to do so? No. So how we can say “Punkbuster” was the major reason why promising projects where abandoned. Admins did have the option at that time also… to simply disable the PB and run those projects but the fact admins didn’t do it is because none of the promising projects made to final usable stage. That’s how I see it but then again everyone is entitled to their opinions.

No matter how much you improve your source code, cheaters will find way out to cheat unless you add anti cheat which updates constantly. The live example is BF3 game. EA stopped giving out server files saying cheaters will code less cheat but the truth is complete opposite. Indeed old cheats might stop working but then again sooner or later some new coders will come out and code new cheats.
That being said I look forward for ET 2.7. I sure for one will use it once public stable release is made.
Dunno why ET should have a favour treatment compared to the games that anti-cheats supported in the past and, after several years, dropped… And I think it was planned. Everything has a beginning, everything has a… end. Cheaters are like viruses: when you are protected to one, and new one appear, and you can’t do anything to this.
I don’t know how work cheats, I guess they’re not installed in the very ET folder or sv_pure 1 would stop it? How to make a game just care the default files and nothing else?
