ETQW support for clangaming?

(jah) #41

well that would prolly make the game huge in size i think. Maybe just adding some different spawpoints in the maps regarding gametype (8vs8 or 5vs5 or 6vs6) would be easier do implement and develop (8vs8 = default spawnpoints; 5vs5 advanced spawnpoints). oh and ofcourse objective maps would have to have less objectives in 5vs5 gametype (removing objective via map scripts like etpro does right now in ET for example). and maybe adding some clip entities so that in 5vs5 gametype players wouldn’t be able to reach certain areas only available on 8vs8.

dunno. SD must already have the game pretty well figured out so i guess this is just a bit of pointless talk. and it’s their first major release (doom was a co-op i think and ET is standalone free and so on) so they prolly have all thought-out, organized and planned since day 1.

I guess! as i said, Socks smell funny so you never know

I havent competed in a long time, but is it really that hard to find 10 players? Tribes was 10 v 10 when I competed and we usually had switching out depending upon the map because we had like 15-20 that wanted to play in a match.

(SCDS_reyalP) #43

It’s not so hard to find 10 players, but It is certainly gets harder to organize and coordinate the more players you have. It also makes the game much harder for the big LAN events to use (finding 6 people who can fly from europe to texas is signficantly easier and cheaper than finding 10).

Demos are obviously a good thing.

(jah) #44

yes. if you want to compete seriously you have to have dedicated players that have to be available everynight maybe 4 hours a day. i don’t play that much now just because of that, i don’t have much time to spare.

There are clans with 20 members. But top clans usually only have 6 (in ET/RtCW) or 7 max so that they can praccy without having to swap team members so that they can develop further their teamplay, tacts, etc. Sure, you can have 10vs.10 clanmatches, but you’ll have to have clans with at least 12 active members, with lots and lots of free time, and thats is really hard do find imo. Not to mention the time it will take to perfect teamplay. If with 6 members is so hard to refine teamplay and it takes so much time… with 10… :S

imho ofcourse.

Jah has the basics down.
It’s really hard to find 10 players, each going to fit in as a person and be highly skilled as well as having a strong understanding of the game.

But anyways, I read this:
For professional gaming there will be a stopwatch mode. The goal is to beat the enemies time. In the first round one team is attacking then in the next round the sides switch and the other team attacks and tries to beat that time.

Don’t know if I liked that one. It could be interesting to see though.

Um…again…DOWNLOAD ET AND PLAY THE F’N GAME!!!

(RX|marrafakka) #47

I don’t give a heck about the original ET. As far as I’ve heard from people who have been in the scene there they say it’s crap. There’s nothing happening. If there isn’t anything happening it can’t be an everlasting game, such as Counter-Strike.

If they manage to mix all the good things from different games into one game then it’s gonna rock. It’s very easy.

(Salteh) #48

Counter-Strike is crap though :stuck_out_tongue:

[edit] compared to ET :moo:

(Nail) #49

please, people who have been in the scene?

guess what, check the servers, ET is still a much played game

from Csports:
Rank Name Online Now Names in 31 Days

ZOMG! I can’t believe you called ET crap in this forum! FWIW, I’ve always thought that the things you said don’t make alot of sense. Now I guess this confirms it. You made so much opinions based on hearsays. Well done!

Close the doors! Release the dogs!

I agree with everything jah said. Everything from number of players in clanmatchs to fire-fighting. Good post!

(Nail) #51

yes, please stick with Camper Stroke, a much better game

(taken) #52

1st person spectating and recording is a must! This just make the game 100 times more attractive for clans.

EDIT: Just a add in to everyone that says “need demo rec!111”. BF2 has demo recording, but only 3. person. This makes it hard to catch cheater, boring to watch matches+++

1st person ftw (111oneoneone)

One more thing marra, play some ET with me and you will learn a lot about how qw is going to be. ET is a great game with great gameplay that got even better with ET PRO and its worth playing, even today

(RX|marrafakka) #54

Never said the game was crap. I said the scene was crap. No high prize tournaments etc. No e-sport environment, to keep it simple.

For a game to live, that is what it needs.

(kamikazee) #55

If you play a game for money, everything that makes it fun is lost.
This is a good article on the subject, imo: The ClanBase Report: Why We Used To Play

(Hakuryu) #56

Never said the game was crap. I said the scene was crap. No high prize tournaments etc. No e-sport environment, to keep it simple.

For a game to live, that is what it needs.

Wrong.

What a game needs to live is a set of development tools for mapping and modding and a good community to help others create new content for the game. ET has plenty of this with tons of new maps, mods like ETPro and others, and some great websites like here and EnemyTerritory.de.

Matches and scrims happen all the time, with the players playing to have FUN, not to make money. Now which is the better game? One that you play because you want to make money or one you play because it’s simply fun?

(Nail) #57

I would phrase it “one you play because you think you can make money”

(RX|marrafakka) #58

I admire your attitudes about fun. I play BF2 to have fun, but I also have the opportunity to make money while doing it, so I snatch it. I see we come from very different places when it comes to gaming so it’ll be exciting to see how things turn out after the release, if the community (not only the ET-community, but the entire gaming-community) will see any potential in this game.

We’ll see how this game turns out before I will comment your attitudes or anything. Let’s just agree on that no-one of us would play a game unless it’s fun.

You can twist your words all you want bro, but in the end, you made comments based on pure assumption and hearsay. That in my book, is :moo: …

As pointed out, ET was/is competitive and some big bucks involved. Just because you never made it, doesn’t mean its not there.

Oh, btw, ET rocks and STILL rocks after almost 3 yrs!! since its released.
