I know its early to think about it but for competition, bani do you think you will make a mod like etpro. Or maybe will rhea do something? Any idea?

ITS POWDER!

Because QW:ET is a buy to play game, I dont think they will release the source code with the game, do you. It will most probably be released, just like the HL2 Source, but that took a bit of time. I think all you could do is build maps for it, and keep them for your mod.

What does the game being retail have to do with mod resources??

It’ll probably be just like D3 and Q4: the game source code will be released a while later, but there’s a LOT you can do with the game ‘as-is’ – not only building maps, but changing the way the scripts work (new weapons, new game behaviour, new effects, etc). Really, you only need the game source for core changes, but there’s a lot that can be done without it.

Unless they’ve changed a lot on the way the game works (ie, not having the editors included on the game anymore), there’s no reason to believe ET:QW modding will be any different than the way it works for D3 or Q4. Of course there’s small development technicalities involved (megatexture usage, slightly different scripting system, render changes, etc), but modding support should be the same in general terms: built-in editors, script/text files, and core game source that needs compilation and which will be released after the game ships.
