but what does ET means to you anyway? because for me it’s just a game, just like any other, but i like certain features in it - like team divided into classes, so everyone has his own role. that’s it. other than that there is nothing new, nothing spectacular, nothing that makes this game diffrent than the others. it’s the class system. that’s why i want to combine cod features that i like with et class style.
stealth6 - the reason why i want these features to be features of et-xreal, is the ability to use them with any future mod, cause then they would be included in ‘primary game’. i hope you get the idea. many people on this board has been against iron sights, but i suspect most of these haven’t really played with it - maybe too old pc to run new games, maybe attitude not to try new stuff or something like that… but if it’s really not enjoyable, then why it’s like 3 of 4 new fpp games that are released has that?
Variation is the flavor of life - ET is a game that isn’t about realism, but having fast reactions and a strong dependancy on teamwork in order to win in objective based maps. I also believe that ET requires more skill to be good at, than say, COD.
What would iron sights add? Greater precision? Or would it slow down the gameplay unnecessarily? Adding iron sights does not give any ‘deeper’ gameplay mechanics to the game. It simply slows down gameplay and rewards campers by giving them an even greater edge while they camp corridors.
I have played a ton of COD recently with a friend, and while we have had lots of great time with it, I’ve found it to be more annoying than fun to die, simply because I didnt have my iron sights up. The other player didnt show more skill, he simply had his iron sight up.
Why would you disable bunnyjumping/strafejumping? An entire sub-genre of ET has been made simply because these mechanics exist. What would you gain by removing it? More realism? But as mentioned earlier, ET is not about realism. Just like Team Fortress 2 has rocket and grenade jumping, ET has its bunny and strafe jumping.
As I started out by saying, variation is the spice of life. Why have all games have the same features? If you enjoy a certain type of gameplay or game mechanics, you go play those games that have them.
Brink seems that it will have a few COD features, so I am sure you might enjoy it too.
It might be ‘fun’ to have them in the game, but it might also prolong the development cycle. And since Dushan
probably also has to work and enjoy his own private life, I don’t think we should burden him with uneccessary features.
