I have played for some days the leaked beta of ET. With all the respect to the game that i have been waiting since it was first announced, there are some changes done in the gameplay that most of the players seem not so eager to accept.
The most dramaticall is mp40/thompson fire rate change. The other one is the sniper rifle which is even twice less usefull than in original rtcw.
Can someone give a good point why this was done?
i can name some not so pleasing outcomes:
- mostly gamers (especially new gamers) want to feel they are holding the almost real and a BIG gun - which means the weapon has to have a decent fire rate. i can reach a faster fire rate from pistol than from SMG’s in ET beta test.
- its harder to hit a target with a low fire rate weapon and if we add some packet loss there is even more accidental missing.
- sniper rifle without an option to kill with one shot (let it be headshot) is kinda useless weapon - because despite of the silencer u mostly can not hide long enough to hit a target again. The sniper has to able to kill with one shot, or we do not need a sniper at all (remember that he can not gib the bodies). Just to be clear I really like sniping in rtcw - because of the effect not being able to hold the weapon steady.
-one more argument is that lowering damage and fire rates u are taking away smth we already have. and taking away without asking is not a good idea at all
- making players hard to kill is not a good idea either. new players WOULD NOT benefit from that, as an accidental headshot does not change much in a fight. and this is not fun in the long run as well - as you can run and hop, run and hop, run and hop till u just step on the land mine.
So any reasons behind those changes?
BTW: The game itself is awesome!
