ET Still on top

I was just admiring Enemy Territory’s place in the GameSpy Live Game Stats( http://archive.gamespy.com/stats/ ), not bad, ET has pretty much held the #2 spot on the list since its release. Ranked by number of players right now:

Half Life - 75,928
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - 6,461
Call of Duty - 4,853
Neverwinter Nights - 3,569
Battlefield 1942 - 3,230
Quake 3: Arena - 2,809
Medal of Honor Allied Assault - 2,761
Soldier of Fortune 2 - 2,368
Battlefield: Vietnam - 2,192
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead - 2,113

Do those stats account for everyone in ET or just those in the 1.02 patched ET? Cause I just reformatted my computer not long ago and haven’t patched until yesterday actually and there’s TONS of servers and players playing 1.0 ET… Why they haven’t updated is beyond me… but if those stats only account for 1.02 then there’s a few more thousand players playin ET.

They’re could be 10,000 playing unpatched but it won’t catch HL.

Obviously…

My point was the gap for second place would be a lot wider if the unpatched weren’t counted… I know for a while BF1942 used to be 1000 ahead of ET…

All Seeing Eye doesn’t give me as high numbers as the Gamespy stats page right now (I don’t know how often the Gamespy page refreshes the numbers, though), but the ASE ratio of 1.02/1.01 is 13/4 right now so if that ratio holds then the 1.01 people could make a pretty big addition if Gamespy were not counting them. I think the huge number of people blissfully unaware there was ever a 1.02 patch is a big part of the reason Activision seems intent on not having a 1.03 patch despite some known bugs. Imagine the community being split even further into 3 groups by another patch (although logically, a lot more people who were savvy enough to upgrade to 1.02 would figure out to upgrade to 1.03).
