ok, im posting this for a freind, but.
in linux, if you run etded with & at the end, to urn as a bg process, and then close the console it was launched from why it crashes when a diff config is loaded

Have him try adding +set ttycon 0 to the command line. The TTY console gets very irritable if the terminal parameters change.
