[ET] Sending a slash (/) in a console message?

(mat) #1

I have a quick and dirty script to send a broadcast to all our ET servers once every 5 minutes. Works great untill I try and embed a URL in the message.

Even sending a message with ‘/rcon say’ cut the message short at the first sign of a /.

So: http://et.qubenet.net/ gets cut short to just: http:

Anyone got any ideas for a work around?

Cheers,
Mat

its the “//”, which is used to signify a comment (i.e. for programmer to leaves notes etc in code) and so the engine ignores anything after it.

workaround would be to just use et.qubenet.net, or maybe intentionally misspell it e.g. http:||et.qubenet.net

I agree. Drop the ‘http://’ You can’t click on the link anyways and the truncated version is neater and less obtrusive

Enter a color code before each slash, i.e.:

/rcon say http:^7/^7/et.qubenet.net^7/

There you go.

Correct me if I’m wrong but can’t you put quotes around it to get by that?
\rcon say “http://www.clansite.com
