ET: QW? RTCW 2 ?

(faltytower) #61

Seems like the only thing missing is an Enemy Territory for Doom, Hexen, and Commander Keen.

Aside from the vehicle-based element QW sounds interesting conceptually. Can’t really say anymore than that until the E^3 show.

cool vid

that rtcw2 is planned and will be developed by some company!

i though rtcw is already in production, if not they may be waitng to get even prettier graphics or more experience using the new doom3 enginer so they cna blow our socks of when the time comes

(evilsock) #64

Well, I’m looking forward to having access to some futuristic weapons, sounds, stuff to drive, stuff to smash (no doubt). Nifty looking graphics on the new engine.

Nope it ain’t RtCW / ET, but then ET wasn’t really RtCW if you’d come from that game anyway. Wide open spaces, altered RoF and different damage spreads made ET a different game. To actually be contemplating a Quake2 update with vehicles and such is incredible imho. Very excited about this.

I wonder if there will be a public beta prior to release? Maybe if someone from SD could drop a hint as to the timing of it we could be ready to upgrade or fortify our PC’s accordingly

id Software representatives weren’t able to reveal much more information about the game, such as its multiplayer details. Hollenshead did explain that id and Raven looked to previous Quake games for inspiration and determined that Quake II was the “best in terms of single-player story,” and that Quake III: Arena was the “best in terms of multiplayer.” The id CEO made broad statements about being able to expect the sort of multiplayer matches that were featured in Quake III, like deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag (and possibly some variants of capture the flag), characterized by battles with rocket launchers and railguns. Still, Quake 4 packs a significant visual punch thanks to its Doom 3-powered graphics. And while we were shocked that id and Activision would go so far as to reveal such a critical plot point, Hollenshead assured us that there would be at least a few more twists and turns that we hadn’t yet seen. Quake 4 is scheduled for release later this yea

No no no no no no no no no no breathe no no no no no no no no no

Infact i will hold my breath until a general release date is now and pc requirements, haaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmm

When referring to the current ET as we know it, use its name. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - anyone who moans the new game is not like the current WET has no right, it doesnt have Wolfenstein in its name, so why the hell should it resemble wolf?

Its funny seeing all these guys moan. The same guys who didn’t like WET as it wasent RTCW, but went on to praise it - Get a grip.

(TFate) #67

Why did you post this? You do realize that the article you posted refers to Quake 4, not ETQW? v583

(evilsock) #68

Ahh, the years of sweat and salt deposits (thanks to ET) have left their mark.

(Mr_Tickles) #69

Er… vehicles were around at the turn of the 20th Century matey.

(chr0nicles) #70

Something new, Something good, Something with awesome teambased MP aspects
The next GENERATION of Shooters with a SCIFI look… pompidom…

Er… understading grammar was introduced before christ. "vehicles ? lol?, looks as if the game went from 1945 to 2905. Notice the comma seperates the sentence, creating a new statement regarding the generalization of the game

(deej) #72

I think you should just open your eyes and see ET:QW as a new game which builds on the teamplay aspects of ET and uses the futuristic look of Quake.

Instead of bitching about something that isn’t even here yet, download the demo when its here, try it out, if you like it, buy it. If you don’t like it DO NOT BUY IT and play another game.

RTCW, RTCW:ET, Quake etc… are all different games. So ET:QW will be different, as will RTCW2, for all we know they might make a RTBFV:ETwithVietcongAndSalsaPepper which you can then try to turn back into ET with the ROF of ET:QW and the panzer damage of good old RTCW with a venom that shoots coca cola ™.

Well if you want to get pedantic about grammar

Never mind…

(TFate) #74

That is just so funny on so many levels. :bored:

Oh, I really don’t want to debase myself to an argument over a tiny pedantic thing such as grammar. Especially when it’s misuse over the internet is so prevalent and my statement was quite obviously tongue in cheek.

All I can say is copy your sentence into MS Word before you try to attack someone else’s understanding of your “personal grammatical rules.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if what you were saying was actually true though. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Nail) #76

everyone knows its not matey, it’s M8T

(Wils) #77

Machty? I don’t get it.

(Nail) #78

M-Eight-T
sry, I’m Canadian

(Wils) #79

s’ok, was a mild IRC-related in-joke

A lot of German and Austrian Quakenet users say ‘n8’ when signing off. Eight in German is ‘acht’, so ‘n8’ is ‘nacht’, which is German for ‘night’. Any non-german speakers in the channel typically respond with ‘neight??’, and we all laugh heartily, etc. Sometimes.

(Fusen) #80

ahhh, always wondered why people were saying nate ;X
