-Will SD release the sourcecode of ET:QW?
-Is this forum also going to support ET:QW modding?

There will be an SDK and map editor released, question is when?

And I am sure there will be a section of this forum set up to accomodate this, at the right time.

Yeah well it all depends on what type of modding you want to do. But I think most mods are associated with some sort of modelling, but I am in a similar boat to you as I am a coder too, tried tinkering with modelling and wasn’t too hot.

Mapping now includes some moddeling as well, so keep it in mind if you plan to make maps.

hmm ok, and in what language is the doom3 engine written? just plain c++ ?

Yes, as is the game code.

id Tech 4 games use a lot of Doom3-script as well though.
