HAppy birthday baby. May you have many more to come and on this special day might I suggest s special wine: Chateau Margaux.
Thinking about QW allways reminds me, how the game industry seems to have changed from being creative and concerned about making fun games to mostly programming cash cows. It´s so rare to actually find a good games these days… All you find are blockbuster AAA titles that are reproducing games from the early 2000 over and over again while other potential is being left aside to rot away…
However, god bless ET:QW for the best time I had as a gamer

The bigger studios aren’t concerned about being creative, only indie studios are nowadays. FPS games are a waste land due to the MOBA era. Their time is gone, but maybe they will rise again who knows.
I feel sorry for everyone who hasn’t had the chance to play QW very early. Could have had been easily their best playing time and kept them busy for several years like it was for me.

I don´t see the MOBA era being an issue for the FPS genre… After all CS, COD, BF and what not are still games that are being played by a lot of people and if the MOBA era changes something then into the positive by actually pushing e-sports. The problem tho is, that MOBAS specialized on reacting on feedback properly after being community ideas in the beginning, as well as never stoped to improve there games and allways pushed them forward by a good marketing as well as being F2P. I honestly think that all this can be applied to an FPS as well - after all DB is an attempt of doing so - and I am pretty sure that it´s doable as well.
CS, CoD, BF are still played yes, because those are the only (big) fps games out there. There is nothing else anymore. CS being the only esport shooter left. CoD changes every year so there is never a long-lasting supporting community around and BF is a big joke and not worth having esport at all anymore with the latest changes to the mode.
MOBA pushed the esport indeed, but only for them. Other genres were left behind. I don’t think this can be applied to FPS games, because I have never seen a good FPS F2P title yet. (ET doesn’t count to F2P, because free to play means you have the option to pay and ET was entirely free)
still remember 1st time i entered nexus tower in slipgate, “omg, what a f…ing maze, i will never get to know these maps”.
not to mention the zillion atempts to fly, before someone told me to switch “w” and “shift” keys when flying.
but the best for me was in the early beginning. defending last obj on quarry, after a while without finding any enemy, i just found the perfect spot for defending, at least i could see the enemy spawn at some distance. just took my eyes out of the monitor for a second and dead i was. went to console to see what hapened and read “hog”. hog ???. omg, how many weapons are there in this game ? (so fast i never got to see it, hahaha).
