First my PC will need lowest settings at everything, but I always try to run games playable at highest settings possible for my system. For singleplayer I need liek 30 fps to call it playable, for MP it needs a little higher…
There are so many things that can change ur system quality. Not only hardware, but also software like have u much files fragmented, spyware, virusses, unstable system, crappy drivers, enough swap file space… My system has bad specs, but i try to get most out of it by keeping my system clean and. For the latest games i eally shut down everything, no firewall, antivires etc…
My system to run ET:QW till about august 2006:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (oc at max 1633 MHz - 2000-)
1024 MB DDR266(284 fsb oc) Ram
ATI Radeon 9600pro EZ 256MB
While both my GFX and proc are lower then minimum of Quake4, I still get a stable 30+ fps on 800x600 low.
