[et:qw] in german print magazines

Hi,

the german PC games magazine PC-Action has also published a preview of ET:QW now.
Mostly the same picture as in the other mag’s.
But also some new ones I haven’t seen before.
If there aren’t pics available by the weekend I will try to scan them.

seen it today, but i’m not willing to pay 5 euro for a few pages with info i already know. the pictures really do look impressive, especially the one with the strogg attack and the gdf panzer puss. the forest picture is nice as well. looking forward to high quality images from SD. hope they release them for public sooner or later.

Another Preview in a german magazine: PC-Games
Two sides, but nothing new.
Although they show the RTS-aspect of the game.

So only two of the four german game magazines have previews of the game.

got a few questions:

the article mentions sandstorms, rain and snow. as the maps are said to be very large i’m asking myself if eg the snow can be at a certain area of a map or if it covers the full map like eg the snow in railgun.

the article mentions as well that locki demonstrated a moving sun, a rising moon and moving clouds above the horizon. does this mean that a map can have dynamic day/night times and we could get eg day at map start, an awesome reddish sky in the middle and a dark finale at night?

if so, it would give the whole campaign an awesome look and certainly some variation if these day/night times are configurable.

Could be yes. Keep in mind that this game will PWN all other titles :), so everything you can mention is probably already in it. Think SD is doing a very good job on it.

BTW: Got my dutch magazine last week, but nothing about ET:QW… Hopefully next month it has something. Then they had another game in it: Prey, saying it would pwn doom3, q4 etc (build on d3 engine as well). But i would say: NEVAAAHH!!

The dutch PC Gameplay has an 8-page ETQW article and a cute ETQW cover

(Joe999) #11

are there any news in the magazine which the other magazines don’t cover? or images?

(ParanoiD) #12

Fuck, the power unlimited hasn’t :@

Apparently there’s a very nice article in PC Games Addict magazine in Australia this month, too. I’m mentioning it in this thread because Australia sounds a bit like Austria, which is itself adjacent to Germany.

(Bongoboy) #14

What he said. I just checked and it’s TRUE.

What’s up with all those magazine articles all of a sudden? Maybe it’s because the game’s close to release…

Wait… do you hear that sound?

It’s…

It’s…

It’s SPECULATION TIME!

Amazon.com says ET:QW will be out on January 11, 2006.
Walmart says we’ll all have the game on 01/09/2006 (and that’s m/d/y).

It’s a bit weird no other gaming sites (bestbuy, ebgames, gogamer) has the game yet, even if with a ‘TBA’ date. Also:

GameStats say the release date is 12/31/99! I guess those stats aren’t very accurate.
According to 1up.com, the game was released on 11/15/2005. I hope somebody has bought it and can let us know if it’s any fun.

amazon.co.uk: February 24, 2006

Woohoo! We’ll be playing Quake Wars in only a couple months! I’ll hold my breath. :blah:

How sweet it would be if those dates were in the right area. GOTY in the first 2 months wewt.

(Bongoboy) #18

Obviously, neither officially confirming nor denying anything, it’s an established Fact Of Truth the retailers generate those dates with the aid of a thimble, two small d20’s and a tumble dryer.

(Pytox) #19

I thought it would be released around march :stuck_out_tongue: but I think that isn’t true  They said from HL2 they would release it in the summer of 2003 (I thought so :P) and it came out like a year later(I’m not really sure about it :))

Patience is a virture, all good things come to those who wait and all that jazz.

I just generated a date using a thimble, 2 small d20’s and a washing machine. Apparently QW is coming out on the first of Jan 2006 give or take a week or two sayin as i didnt use a tumble dryer!
