ET:QW E3 Thumbdrives/DogTags

(Fitzsimmons) #1

Hi all, first post to the forums.

I happened to get linked to this image gallery earlier today…

Flickr URLs Are Just Too Damn Long

I had a couple questions:

  1. Are the chain and tags plastic or metallic?
  2. Do you think it would be possible to find these for sale anywhere other than ebay (if they even manage to show up there, I bet a lot of people are hanging onto theirs)?

I would very much be interested in purchasing one of those awesome looking thumbdrives. I’m not sure who was in charge of the setup at E3, in terms of SD, idgames, or Activision or whatever, so I decided I would try asking here, especially since it seems that you guys have the most prevalent and open community.

So, if anyone knows if there’s some excess stock being sold off, or has one or more of their own that that they’re interested in selling, please contact me, I’m willing to pay!

Thanks.

Looks like “Special Edition Box” material. That and maybe a t-shirt.

What other goodies could the SE version include? It should for sure include plain old Wolf:ET, but that will probably be on both versions.
The “Quake4 SE Box” already included Q2, so maybe Q3 could be an option. Q3 is in the bargain bin anways (if you ever find it)

Nice! I wonder if anybody is selling them on ebay yet…

(Fitzsimmons) #4

MINE! THEY’RE ALL MINE!

(And no, I checked a couple of hours ago and there was nothing)

Cool, I’m still looking for strogg stickers

(Deth_Metal) #6

I just want to say devs… I expect to see my dogtags and thumbdrive in the mail after registering for my copy of ETQW :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, it’s pretty nice swag. All paid for by Nvidia, which I have to say was uncommon decent of them. Huzzah for them, I say, Huzzah.

The GDF/Strogg dogtags and chain are indeed metal: a nice chromey stainless steel sort of affair. They got a lot of interest, and got snaffled up almost immediately, so I would be by no means surprised if more of them made an appearance in some way, shape or form. We shall make entreaties to Activision regarding this matter, and try to bring the bling to a larger audience.

We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious.

I might have considered it if it didn’t have every single logo on the front. I sure do like ID, Splash Damage, and to a degree, Activision and nVidia, but not enough to PAY to be walking advertising for them. :stuck_out_tongue:

@Bongoboy: as I posted in the “critics” topic, my primary concern about that flickr gallery is that in the second page of the pamphlet it describes the technician as being able to revive stroggs, and the covops as able to disguise himself…

do we have to worry about asymmetric gameplay going right into the trash can or was that just some sort of E3 setting you put there for no reason just for the show?

(Fitzsimmons) #12

Sorry for spamming the thread, but does anyone know how much storage you get on those things?

(Bongoboy) #13

Most were 64MB, there were also a few handed out to journalists that were 512MB and had the press kit on 'em.

(Fitzsimmons) #14

That’s a little dissapointing, but understandable since they were handouts. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on one with at least 512MB. Not likely though…

dog tags would rock in a special/limited/collectors/etc edition version of the game. I simply cannot wait for this game to hit stores. Every screenshot, trailer, video, I see makes the game look even more amazing.

(jjpron) #16

Well, just to throw in my show of support, I did preorder doom3 just so I’d get the cool pewter Baron of Hell.
I’d prolly do the same for some cool stuff with QW.

(Rhoades) #17

yeah, i want cool stuff in the SE of QW. Namely, little tapirs, t-shirts, dog tags, and a USB drive.

(corvey) #18

I agree, and I ALSO WANT A STROGG STICKER for my PC case.
