I couldnt find the original post in this forum (I checked all way back to page 5 or something, and the search function is broken)
So here it is. I found it at www.quakewars.at

Thanks for the picture!
Whine: I like the colors in on the old picture better. On this new picture the colors are much different right? The old one had alot darkes skies etc, looked more grim/epic and cooler.
I hate how sites do that its like signing someone elses work. BTW can we get a version with Arcipello Signature? Or is his signature hidden in the grass there on the bottom right?
The colors are not “different”. The thing is, the old one is a photograph of a screen, so you lose a lot of detail… hence the darken blacks, overexposed highlights, stronger blue, general blur, etc
I say the photo from the screen made the image better with the blacks, overexposed highlights, stronger blue. The new image seems to have some lack of blue filter, or very strong red, under-exposed highlights, and much less black clouds.
Its just my personal taste though, which is the grim or epic type of art. The new one is very very good, I just like the old version from the screen better, as it feels more to the RTCW grim side.
Edit: Can someone tell me how to make this new image that has details, into looking like the photo from the screen but without the blur? Just some short guide steps in photoshop would be nice If I got help with. Thanks.
just toy around with what you’ve got in the images -> adjustments menu. the cam pic above is a bit too cold for my taste. i for my part like it a little bit darker for the price of detail-loss with a more warm reddish subtone from the beam. problem i have now is that the sky is mostly reddish as well, still need to make some transparency masking. at the end it all comes down to your own personal preferences, here’s an example:
btw: no need to check 5 pages, it’s on the 1st one:
arcipello’s work is amazing. big thanks again for takeing the time. and thanks at SD for allowing him to release the image. it’s very much appreciated
