i’ve seen lots of dates of QW, but this is the first time i’ve seen a “Collector’s Edition”:

would be awesome if there were one. anyone here who knows some facts about a collectors edition?

i took the freedom to ask. here’s the answer in german:

Leider haben wir noch keine näheren Infos zu den Inhalten, Unterschieden oder Terminen

translated it means: unfortunately we have no further information regarding content, differences and dates.

so i think this is the same as everywhere, none of the marketing guys have a clue. they use random dates and fictive goods to make people preorder the game at their store.

if only one of the devs would open up, even a photo of the office plant which they used as a lighting example as described in one of the articles would suffice for a starving ET junkie

I have been buying games since cassette tape games put out on the TRS 80 Color computer, and have never bought a collectors edition. I just dont get why people would want to pay more for a cheap booklet and an action figure for example. Oblivion just came out, and I’m bored of it already (more like frustrated that it only rules in graphics and not gameplay), so I dont miss the hint book and cheap gold coin replica.

If they would put a hard cover book like a coffee table book (like the one from HL 2) in a collectors edition, then maybe I would change my mind, but the cheap add on things you usually find in collectors editions just arent worth another $10 imo.

The Collector’s Edition in question here is just a figment of gameware.at’s imagination.

The collectors edition for like WoW was worth it to me just for the huge artbook alone.

Aside from that though, who really cares about the 1" pewter figurine, 5"x5" cloth maps and a bonus dvd with E3 trailers.

What is very frustrating though is that most collectors edition boxes come with the game on DVD and not 1500 CD’s. That’s the only reason I’ll buy it and it’s extremely frustrating I can’t just get the game for 50 bucks and on one convenient DVD.

I’m surprised games are still released on CD’s in some parts of the world. I can’t remember the last time I saw a game not on a DVD that required one.
