ET:QW at E3

They had one map running, all classes and vehicles were ingame and running. The map was pretty big, and the gameplay flowed very well. The two times i played it was as Strogg, so i can only give that side.

Our mission goals were: Hold off the enemy for 20 mins by, 1. Keep the enemy from constructing a bridge, 2.Stop them from moving a big truck (forgot the name) through a tunnel and to one of our areas. 3. Keep them from hacking our shields (?) 4. And stop them from blowing up our containment area.

The battle flowed very well, if you died, you can spawn right where the action is. So you wont have to run all the way from the Strogg base if they are still working on the bridge. No flag taking or anything like that.

Each class gives the game an almost RPG feel, and with the complexity of each class, I feel it will be difficult to master them all. (I see that as a good thing).

Both times I played the Strogg defence held and we won…but i say the other team win while i was in line to play…I think they have done very well in game balance (from what i can tell).

Sorry I forgot the names of stuff, and sorry this is not better, but i hope it gives you an idea of the gameplay.

Cool I’m planning on playing Strogg, what classes did you play?

awesome, thanks for taking time to write about it.

i’m glad too about the difficulty of mastering classes.
i don’t think most people realize that it takes a loong time to learn all the tricks for all different classes, on different teams, on different maps. (while gunning down the enemy at the same time.)
In all my years of ET i’ve used mortar 2ice and panzer mabe 4 times. I love engie, medic, and cov ops. and i almost exclusively play allies nowdays, though in the past i’ve almost exclusively focused on defense as axis.

I think it’s funny when people say this. I always choose random to keep the teams even in other asymmetrical games like natural selection. It’s way more fun that way because you get tired of playing one side, so there’s more variety. It can be annoying because usually one side is more popular (marines in NS), so you end up playing one side way more. Hopefully it won’t be as big of a problem because the teams aren’t quite as radically different in Quake Wars from what I can tell.

I played the “Oppressor” most of the times…but tried em all. We had little to no warmup, so i wanted to get into it.

I think they have it down so far, but the mega machines they had running the lan sometimes lagged, so I think all they have left to work out is the data x-fer and how to keep lag down.

ah you played the same map that this guy did: http://www.clanbase.com/news.php?nid=214678

it’s the “MCV vehicle” o.O

is ET:QW going to be the first solid doom3 engine based game? YES! xD

I know I always just choose random in other games like CS and DoD and BF2 (although it really doesnt matter) but I just think Strogg are a lot cooler and I am just looking forward to playing them, I mean you can play as humans in every game but only this game has Strogg! (besides all the other Quakes)
