I love game soundtracks, I own quite a few…Final Fnatasy, Chrono Trigger, BioHazard, etc. Generally speaking I kill all the music whenever I play an FPS because it always breaks my immersion when I’m playing.

I was just blowing through Black, that Criterion FPS, and the parts that were most annoying had music associated with them. That was the first game in I’ve played in a while without the option to kill the music.

Ultimately music or no, I’ll turn it off when I get in game.

As someone said, ambient sounds are far more important to me.

I’m gonna get shot for sayin this but there was one aspect of Battlefield I liked ducks, Whilst there was no music when you were on foot and you could hear people around you running about etc. If you got in a vehicle it had a stereo in it, it gave away your position somethin shockin but flyin a chinook in carryin a tank to the music of ‘Flight of the Valkries’ is always fun.

Admitedly Quake 3 Noize was just that - noise. But I still listen to Descent Into Cerberon, Kill Ratio and Quad Machine daily

As ive said already in this thread i think, the sound of the battlefield is all thats needed. The grenades, guns etc etc are the instruments makin the music!

Frank Keplaki’s music is great but not suited to a FPS - i still think you need Sonic Mayhem’s heavy guiatars
