Just managed to bring my pre-order home from EBGames. I’ve been trying to pre-register my name and haven’t been able to get it…
Whenever I hit submit it says “Your GAME TAG is not allowed.”
Has anyone managed to reserve their name? I’m trying to figure out if my name is filtered, taken, or the name system is down.
So not just GameStop and Best Buy are offering pre-order extra stuff? Awesome, I can stop buy EB Games sometime soon then.

Just “defy”.
I figured it would be simple enough to do… Did you manage to get “Nail”, or whatever name you will be using?
i think ‘defy’ is just too short.
i was told the same thing when i tried to register ‘phray’. so i tried ‘thephray’ and it was accepted!

Hey everyone, quick update.
I grabbed the pre-order case the first day possible so i could grab my name, but it wasn’t working.
Emailed activision customer service to ask for help, but they said preorder names needed to be from 6 to 20 letters. (I wasn’t happy).
However, after I heard ktr got his name, I just tried again.
It works! They must have gotten enough complaints or something, and changed their name filter.
so we won’t be able to change our names in game… :x
curses at not being able to preorder then…
I guess there will be a difference between your account name and your nickname, hopefully.
I think im right in saying you can register a further 2 names when you get the game. And I dont think you can change your name in game, watch the latest Locki interview he talks about it there.
If thats the case then we need to know advance that if the game supports clantags that can be changed any time. Otherwise we might start to see doubletag players ala BF2.
In BF2 there first wasnt clantag support and then it was added so people who changed clan but didnt want to lose stats had two clantags in name for example “DoA ElF|Eliteplayer”
In Valve’s games there are one account and you can change your name ingame as many time as you want. So what is the problem. Stats? ofcourse again. Valve dont have stats but they are adding it in TeamFortress2 lets see how they can handle it.

Funny, I was able to register VGER and it’s a 4 letter word!! HA Well not the good kind!! But the = = for the Clan Tag was a no go! :x
You can never have enough nicknames… Though it seems it is not allowed anymore then.
