Hi all fellas!

Theres something i wan’t to report. (i didnt check other forums , so i dont know if this is posted allready)
some ppl have binded suicide command in to some button in hes keyboard.
so when they get low energy…they suicide… so u don’t get kill from him , and he don’t get death report from that , becuz he suicided.
so someone can have 80 kills and 0 deaths , becuz he suicides just before he dies…and its anonying me! :banghead:

You’re obviously taking too much time to kill them, if they’ve got time to kill themselves.

My advice - aim better.

So in other words it’s kind of important how players come across in the statistics? Or did I misunderstand something?

Only about a gazillion times.

Look at the stats in the console if you want to know how many times they killed themselves, then learn to live with it.

Number of deaths is unimportant, only objectives and number of kills counts. :smiley:

It would seem like Zape wants the stats at the end to be a fair reflection of how the game went and how well he performed versus other players. This does not happen if people are using kill if in the middle of a duel for instance.

I use it when low on ammo/health/changing classes and it’s near to the spawnpoint.

Just I do come across certain clans who do it with their clan tags on when I’m in the middle of a duel with them, that sucks, and I form a hatred for the clan in general.

Yeah, but Sauron, he doesn’t get his kill if they kill themselves, does he?

Well , i don’t care so much about stats , teamwork is what i prefer.
But also fair game would be nice I think. :smiley:

If they are dead, then that means that they won’t be bothering you until the next respawn. Some people will suicide to recarge their weapons or skills faster. But if yuo go into a shrub or an ETPro game, you won’t have to worrry about that. My advice, stop worrying about the stats.

I’m sure someone had asked bani if he could implement a way to prevent anyone using /kill if they had suffered damage in the last couple fo seconds but not sure if it got recognised

Yeah, stats are pointless but he’s also denying you XP for light weapon and battle sense (both depend upon inflicting damage/killing ppl) and it’s highly annoying if you worked hard for a kill and your opponent simply /kills to deny you the satisfaction of having killed that l33t uber bitch :smiley: Very often encountered by panzer wh0res, they shoot at you and when the miss instead of fighting it out with there pistol they /kill… lame :confused:

The server I play on therefore has made up a strict rule, only 5 /kills per map, otherwise you are automatically kicked. I love it :clap:

Truth is, live with it.

Also, its not that hes ‘killing them too slow’ if they have time to kill themselfs. For me, I have my kill to mouse3 so I can just slide finger of attack and im gone. No time there…

That’s interesting…it implies you don’t “fork” your fingers to cover all the mouse buttons at once i.e. both or all three like this: / or like this |/

I have all 3 buttons covered at all times (attack, secondary weapon, sprint for 1,3,2)

Truth is, it’s going to kill this game if this continues to happen and everybody starts doing it. As you say, you can do it instantly if you have your /kill binded to a quickly accessible key or button. It’s not a hard thing to master.

This is a shooter, a basic goal of a shooter is to kill other people, not force them into suicide. This needs fixing ASAP imho. Like disabling /kill if you received damage in last 1 or 2 secs.

For me personnally it’s not so much about the lost XP, but I WANT TO KILL PEOPLE :bash:

Not entirely. It’s an objective based team game, the basic goal of which is to achieve an objective. If the enemy /kills he’s not in my face anymore and he’s not preventing me from doing what I’m doing, which is a good thing. I’ve no problem with my opponents using /kill, saves me a few bullets. :slight_smile:

Its a shooter yes, but its not the point of the game. If it was DM/TDM, then yeh, the point of it is to kill but nope, it isnt, its objective driven and as much as it can only be achieved by killing, it obviously isnt a must… it just helps that little bit more.

OK so we have established that this game is about killing people and about completing objectives.

But most importantly, this game and any game should be about having fun. There is no fun in shooting at someone but not kill him because he decides he’d rather kill himself than get killed. I have already played a pub game where all enemies (it was a clan bunching up together) would /kill everytime. I can tell you, it was no fun at all. Should have got it on demo and I think you would have to agree this is not the way the game should be played. In a clanmatch I wouldn’t mind that much because competition is about winning, pubs are about fun. But then again, competition without fun is pretty pointless too.

You can say that it doesn’t bother you when someone does it (maybe they haven’t done it enough so you’re not bothered yet), but it bothers me and a lot of other people too. This should be fixed, not for XP’s sake, not for fairness sake, but just to keep this game enjoyable.

Gotta remember that not everybody has the same idea of what fun is. Look at myg0t’s… there idea of fun is to screw everyones day up… and look where it got them, one of the most infamous gaming groups ever… featured in dvds, magazines, corp. websites… there next aim being television, but have been mentioned on a few shows featuring lans and being blamed for hacking Valve for HL2 source. http://gtwy.net/hl2/ iirc.

anywayyyy but nah if your on your way to objective and you get caught in a firefight and they /kill then basically you killed them because they are out ya way and your still alive and they are dead =P

just like in real life if ya was going to blow up ya school then the caretaker comes and shoots at ya in the corridor then when ya nearly kill him he slits his throat … you get free passage to sherwood forest my lady.

Hi all - been reading this forum for a while (always entertaining & much useful knowledge - cheers guys!), but had to register to reply to this one…

I regularly play on the same server, which is on a 6 map campaign cycle. The only annoying thing is if you miss the start of the campaign, it can put you at a huge disadvantage, as the guys you are playing against have already developed their skills, and so it can be tough to compete (engies with flak jackets, rambo meds etc).

…my point? /kill causes the same issue - it is denying you the xp you should gain from the kill - so slowing the advancement of your own skills. If the other team are constantly doing this, and your are not, then the game soon becomes lopsided to their favour, for comitting hari kari!

So I have to say, I think this is a VERY BAD THING! and would love to see it sorted.

Tbh I cant see it as a problem. In the past say, 3 games you have played in how many of your targets /kill’d? I for one can say none. And it goes to the last um, 10ish or more games. The only place I ever see /kill’s bar myself is in clan games and league games. Again tho, when I see it, its only for tactical spawns and ammo rather than ‘cos ur gettin 0wned’.

HairyPlums… u dunno what mouse I use, so how you know my fingers need to go like |/ or /? But aye, they do. Have 2 mouse buttons plus my mouse 3 is my scroll wheel pushed. So, I dont need to go |/… plus, having 3 fingers on a mouse (right handed) means you only have a thumb and pinky to guide and control, which isnt worth while when I play with >40 sense.
