I’m always slightly suspicious at the HalfLife figures. THAT many??

Come to that, i’m also a bit shocked at BF1942 figures, but that i can put down to personal taste.

I ah kinda downloaded Unreal (thats part 1) Gold the other day and was quite amazed that they had quite a few servers still up and people on them.

Thats half-life and all its mods, eg counter-strike and Day of Defeat.

Anyway, whooohooo! go ET! Get to second place and I’ll bake you a cheesecake

I installed kingpin again the other day, out of curiousity, and surprisingly theres still servers for that too.

HalfLife: 30.000 server and 75.000 player makes roughly 2 1/2 players/server… not so impressive

of course!

So really, given all the mods for BF1942, it’s an amazing feat for ET to be right up there.

:moo:

Ive been following ETs gheyspy stats since the full release.

Its hangs at 3 and 4 w/ mohaa, but whats key is that ET has 5 - 7 K players on less than 1000 servers, while BF and MOH are running several thousand servers. ETs popularity hasnt shown any signs of waivering yet, very impressive indeed. ETs numbers could scale w/ the number of servers it has in which case itll be in the #2 spot solidly.

Also of note, that the most popular games now are WW2 themed.

It’s v noticeable… Activision’s Call of Duty coming out this xmas as well. Gritty WW2 has the most intense gaming experience at the mo’.

Don’t see why Vietnam wouldn’t work, but eg VietCong is pants. About as gritty as laminated wood.

Yeah, shame that. Dont get me wrong, I like WW2 themed games, but it would be nice to see some modern themed games (like the desert combat mod for BF1942) or some from vietnam era or something.

Cant visualize vietnam game being fun, if it trys to stick to the historical premise. There really hasnt been a modern era war that was a fair fight like ww2 was : ) The black hawk down game had me scratching my head, not sure that is kosher : )

I think ww2 is a more rock scissors paper affair, modern warfare is alittle too high powered. anyone played americas army ? I think theyre putting turbans on all the enemies in new patch : ) no more ‘serbian’ looking adversaries

Yeah I dunno what it is about the WW2 thing but it works for me. One thing about the wolfy universe is that you can carry a couple of mansize weapons not like say any of the other FPSers say something from the Unreal genre where you must have some sort of pan dimensional weapons bag that can carry something daft like 10 BIG weapons (some of them bigger than a fair sized labrador) , I wouldn’t mind if they said you had one of these pan dimensional weapon bags but they don’t.

LMAO

I liken it to bugs bunnys ACME line of weapons and accerssories. Ill take a panzer over the PLU 32 explosive space modulator anyday.

The whole vietnam game thing - hows this gonna work. Youre an NVA field ops, you call for an air strike, instead of hearing ‘roger, on my way’ you hear laughter … ‘you want pork fried rice w/ that’ … bwahahahah’ Dont see how they can balance that game … : )
