ET just crashes when i join a server when i join a server it just goes back to my desktop same with COD same problem singleplayer and online
i tried new drives old drives still no success
i havent downloaded motherboard drives cuz i couldnt find them
my specs
ASUS GeForce FX 5200 128 mb
AMD Athlon ™ 1.1 GHz (I know its slow)
Dont know my soundcard
512 mb RAM

Mo, I got one of these the other week and I recommend them HIGHLY (thats my user comment btw) :
you should easily be able to source one of these in the “Land of the Free” (unless you want to visit there from the UK then you have to pay for a visa (£280 / $360(ish) for a family of four) before even considering booking flights :eek2:

before you rush out and get a 9800pro… Id up grade your prossessor becuase a 1.1ghz even limets a ati 8500. My m8 is pulling 87fps on ET with is 8500, an on the same spot my cuzin is pulling 63fps with his g4 ti4200. differance being he has a 2600xp and my cuzin has a 2200xp.
Im also scoring higher than my m8 on 3dmark 2001. I have a 2000xp o/c to 2800xp running a 9600pro. he has a 1800xp running a 9800pro.
So buying a 9800pro allthough it is a grate card probibly wouldnt be the best buy for you.
As for ET crashing. It is pribibly down to mother board drivers allthough it could be other things. Have a look on the insides of your computer and see of u can see any SIS or VIA chip’s or maby a brand name and modle number like jetway blabla. Also another place to help find out what make your mother board is by looking at your post screen. It should have your bios info there. (normaly a sting of letters and numbers with a date).
If you can write stuff down you see on your boot screen i would be more than happy to seacrch for you and help you find what make your m/b is.
note Dont rush out and get a new CPU unless you know how to fit them. it is fairly easy but u can damage your cpu by crushing or chipping the core. also make shure u get a newer heatsink/fan. I recomend a thermaltake valcano 11 or 12 or a coolmaster aero 7.
Also… find out what make/modle your motherboard and what speed your ram is before gettin a new cpu. AMD can run on differant FSB. from 100mhz fsb for older amd’s, 133mhz fsb for amd’s uptp 2700xp(older core) and 166mhz fsb for 2500xp bartons (new core).

Never played, or installed CoD for that matter so I cant help you there but…
Before messing about with drivers etc, the fact is that ET is running/starting up till you attempt to join a server yeh? What do you mean it crashes when not dumping you to desktop? Errors? BSoD’s?
Try changing your com_hunkmegs. This seems to be a great problem and bug fixer within any Q3 Engined (be it modified or not) games :> - reconmmened setting is I think, 2/3rds of your ram, or say 250 in your case? To set bring down console when you open ET (key) and type /com_hunkmegs <value ere> then restart it. Also make sure you can load the maps offline etc, again, load up ET, hit console () and type /map oasis/fueldump or whatever and see if itll load it up that way? Let us know how ya get on…
