Make sure you have Direct X 9.0c
ET not work
Give ET.exe the parameter ‘+set logfile 1’
For example you can create a shortcut to Et.exe and modify the parameters there… or start it from command line.
This will make it log the console to etconsole.log in etmain.
So even if it crashes there should be something in it, and if you are lucky its a usefull error msg.
Still I also wonder about your hostname, why would anybody name his main pc virtual-e1cecfa…
Sounds more like a autogenerated name for a virtual machine.
The problem is this one :
in et console there are this lines :
ET 2,60b win-x86 may 8 2006
---- FS startup ----
c:\programmi\wolfenstein - Enemy territories\etmain\pak2.pk3 (22 files)
c:\programmi\wolfenstein - Enemy territories\etmain\pak1.pk3 (10 files)
c:\programmi\wolfenstein - Enemy territories\etmain\pak0.pk3 (3725 files)
c:\programmi\wolfenstein - Enemy territories\etmain\mp_bin.pk3 (6 files)
3763 files in pk3 files
execing default.cfg
couldn’t exec language.cfg
couldn’t exec autoexec.cfg
Hunk_Clear: Reset the hunk ok
…detecting CPU, found AMD w/ 3Dnow!
nothing there shows an error
these aren’t errors
couldn’t exec language.cfg
couldn’t exec autoexec.cfg
This is the complete log of et console :
ET 2,60b win-x86 may 8 2006

It’s impossible for me attach an bmp file orh other. Evrytime I Obtain only a black screen.
This does not look like a logfile generated by ET.exe
And if that is indeed the log, well then at least I have no idea what the error could be.
So are you sure this is a copy of the content from the file etconsole.log ?
And if not, where did you copy that from?
Please explane me.
In the et link, it is impossible to add +set logfile 1 inside to the ".
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\ET.exe”+set logfile 1 [is what the target line should look like]
I re-installed ET today works without probs here.
On my pc I have XP sp3 too.
I did my install like this :
- install et.
- run patch 2.60.
- replace the 2 files in the C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory folder ( et.exe & etded.exe ) with the ones in the 2.60b patch.
- download pbsetup.exe for punkbuster at http://www.evenbalance.com and run it .( show it where ET is installed etc. ) then it updates the pb version for ET.
After this it works perfectly.
Hope it works for you too.
I’ve put together a no-frills package for these situations. It’s easily the quickest way to get playing. 1 file download squeezed to minimum size, everything patched to the latest version and ready to play.

don’t work same problem.
The logfile can be in various places.
Its name is
etconsole.log
most probably it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain
else it might be well hidden form your eyes by windows. In such a case search for it with windows…
Full search - at best in your profile for the “etconsole.log”
