A full set of system specs and an overview of your config settings would be helpful…

Failing that, I’d say that the oasis was hit by a sand storm.

looking at the 2nd pic ide say the engine was drawing fog. as you can see the different stages

however its in reverse as the fog is denser when closer to the player

the other thing that makes me think is the color of it, very coincidental that it should fit so well with the desert style map aslo you say it only happens on oasis map

do you have any exra pk3 files in ur etmain that may contain files that would casue this?

Maybe a longshot, maybe not. What is your r_ignorehwgamma set to?

My screen looks like yours when I deliberately set it to 0 and run ET in a window.

r_ignoreHwgamma is 0 by default , and that should work fine…

i think theres some pretty straight forward debug maneuvers to do here…

  1. make backup of your profiles/<yourname>/etconfig.cfg , and start up your ET (back to deafult yes, now check if u got the same issue.

  2. if problem still persists, i would try either resetting some features on you graphicscard (controlpanel/displays/settings/advanced/openGLtab)

  3. if problem still there i would try a graphics driver reinstall/update.

r_ignoreHwgamma is 0 by default
My mistake in that case. I remember being unhappy about the level of brightness and found in the end my Ti4200 card seemed happier in a 1024x768 window with r_ignoreHwgamma set. I guess it must be 1 rather than 0.

One of those settings (0 or 1) will cause extra brightness on my machine, quite like the picture you’ve posted.

Anyway, good luck with your problem.

Have you recently changed your graphic driver ?
I tried to update to the latest Nvidia drivers for my GeForce 6800 Ultra and had similar results. Reverting back to my old driver sorted it out.
