[ET MAP] Great Wall Of China

Here is my finished, Dragon. I spent time on this and its what I might ot might not add to my map. To be honest with you, I havent mapped any thing for my map for a while. Been playing ET, modeling my dragon and other stuff.

Maybe the black makes it look different to you from what I see in 3dmax.

Thats what you all think, you give him a hug, and he bites your head off and burns your body! … Well he is naked so far, no textures added. I dont really think he will be in my map, hes not angery enough :P, ill use the stupid budda thing :slight_smile:

Would making a nicely curved wall be too dificult/much trouble? I think making some serpants through the map would make it far more real and nice. But, in the end, it’s up to You (;

I was going to make serpants, my dragon was going to be one, I could make one still, I have the body in pieces so yeah, I think ill make some :slight_smile:

What do you mean by a curved wall? the great wall or the temple walls?

I need all the feed back I can get, to make it a great map, first time I have ever asked for it, this is my thrid map now, and I want it to be great.

curved walls are a pain in the ass… LOTS of small brush work when you want it to look not too bad

Time for a update, I thought I would take some screen shots, I will aslo give the objectives and what the map is best for.

Objectives:

Axis:

Construct a command post
Destroy the allied storage tower door
Steal the decoder
escape to the truck

Allies:
Construct a command post
Defend the allied storage tower door
Defend the decoder
Stop axis getting to the truck

The map is built for fast action from the beginning. Snipers have the highest advance in this map, as tower tops and windows give great sniper posts. The area of the map is covered in trees giving cover to players on the ground.

When the first beta is out, you can all post what you think the map type should be, because feed back from players is the key for a good map :).

It’s looking great! Call me picky, but I would like to see some in-game shots. That’s just me though. :smiley:

I will as soon as I have built it. I am showing all my work as I build it, I need to alpha test it before the first beta to see how good it runs, and am sure it will be a great fps map.

I will take loads of screens of the in game map when I have it done, so dont worry.

I can only have 6 slots before my connection gives in and slows down. So only 5 people will be alpha testers. Remember to e mail me if you like to be one.

Little update:

I have created room inside the forts next to the wall, because I thought it would be a little unprotected with out a roof to spawn under. I might modify the wal so a part of it is crumbled away.

I think I will be alpha testing it next week, but with no objectives, just the map on its own, to test out how the game play can flow.

Here are the first in game screen shots, the lighting has messed up in places. The budda statue has no texture because ET can not find the location, as it is not in a pk3 to guide it.

I d/led the beta version and took a quick run through it. It looks like it should be a fun game on public servers… the only thing I had a problem with was those big lumps of grass sticking out of the ground. Those are so weird. ^^ And of course you should also add a shader to the ground texture.

you’re moving forward pretty straight! i’m glad to see you’ve even included detail yet… those rocks in
the lake just to name one :stuck_out_tongue: unfortunately this wall looks somewhat temperate… with the grass and trees…
give it a dark gray texture and it would easily become an ancient castle of middle europe :confused:

don’t know how to change that other than choosing other tree models and ground texture… haven’t looked
at architectonic details that make the great wall so unique, but i’ve googled a little and found this nice site.
there more than 100 great images you can use for inspiration when clicking the links at the bottom. hope this is
