well higgins, i think you got me wrong on that one… what i was trying to say is if you’d change the color,
then nobody would recognize this wall to be the great wall of china. i would prefer the wall being identified
as the great wall, no matter what color the bricks are. that can only be done by referencing the original
architecture and then copy the most important elements to your brushwork. the brushwork itself should
identify this wall as the great wall… that would result in a much deeper atmosphere. if it looks as a
middle european wall that just got painted yellow and thus called the great wall of china… would look
somehwat odd, eh?
take this pic for instance: see that tower? see THAT roof? you won’t find this style anywhere else,
so by copying the shape and putting THAT kind of roof onto your towers, people joining your
map and seeing that roof will think
“i don’t know where i am, but judging this roof it must be somewhere in china”.
now lets have a look at that cute little piccy. oops, what’s that? yep, a different style of roof but again
somewhat original to architexture of the far east. notice the great wall has been build over the lasting
of several dynasties, is that long that is reaches regions that all have their own architectonic elements…
so you don’t even have to decide on one style of roof, you can have them all, compressing all the
different styles of different regions and dynasties into your single map
you don’t have to, of course
