My et takes about 30 seconds to load now, where as it used to be fast, i read around and seen adwear/spywear/trojans/virus’s slow down et so i removed everything and its all clean, i then reinstalled twice, rest of the computer is running fine, ic also just cleaned my etmain, still no change, what else could it be? any help would be nice.

turn off update checkup maybe?
If you have no internet connection avaiable it will wait until timeout…

(Etnies) #3

its not the internet connection, i said its slow to connect to the server not that i dont connect @ all… any suggestiongs anyone else?? :eek2:

By ‘cleaned’, did you mean removing the myriad of pk3 files? Because they’re not removed during un-installation. These files could be the source of your problem.

What do you mean? You get stuck at “Awaiting connection”, or is it the map loading that takes a long time?

Defrag HDD, and check how much physical memory you have available before starting ET.

(Etnies) #6

it takes about 30 seconds to load from one map to the next, where as it used to be alot faster, i have defragged to, still no change…

It would be convenient to post your full system specs also

Anyway try the following what lots of people do after ‘re-installing’ et is placing their config back  this is a comon mistake, make sure its not your ‘tweaked’ config

als check the following:

You don’t have a virus/spyware(scanner) running when playing ET.
Your pagefile is set appropriate.

Not sure on this one:

Did you change your resolution and or detail setting?

Ok reninstalled again nd used default config… this time it stays at awaiting connection… and jumps right to the limbo menu. I am not running any scanners while playing, or did i change any detail settings at all, havent touched them in months. CPU useage is about 2% before I load et.
pagefile is to do with ram?

Pentium 4 2.80 ghz
512 ddr
Geforce 440SE 128mb
