et gfx settings keep resetting

hey there,
i played et for a while now, all was ok. then a while ago i had that after et crashed for some strange reason (program has to close and asks to send a error report) my screen looked very dark. gamma 1 and such. when i asked what value my cvars were @ i got the msg they were @ the value i wanted them @.

/r_intensity [enter]
/r_intensity is 1.5, default is 1

stuff like that.

gamma sais its on 1.6 and when i change that one to 1.3 (default value) its a lot brighter than before and when i change the intensity settings (/r_intensity 1.51)and then vid restart its seems ok but when i do it back to 1.5 it gets dark again. loading other configs doesnt help. i loaded my backup and some other cfg i got from a website.
i already reinstalled but that didnt help. :frowning:
hope one of you can help me out.

hmm its also a Ati bug, when you minimize>maximize ET or get a MSN message it gets dark, then i do r_gamma 1 and r_gamma 2 and its normal again. Dont know how to fix that…

U can fix the problem with the following script - just hit the bound key twice and it should reset itself fine :slight_smile:

Wolfcastle> This script will toggle between two r_gamma values…nothing more…doesent really fix anything… too me it looks like a very simple r_gamma toggle…

If u wanna know why your ET sometimes resets the cvars…you should have a look around in this forum…plenty of posts :P.

I also had problems keeping cvars like intensity…com_hunkmegs…and actually most variable that needs vid_restart…or game reboot…my solution is following:

  1. Delete or rename this folder -> ETpro/profiles/
    And this file (if its there) -> ETpro/etconfig.cfg

  2. Open game (in DEFAULT, NOT any mod)

  3. Set ur variables…by using ingame menu, execing ur vars or what ever u usually do, when setting up ur game.

  4. close game

  5. Done!

note: u can do this time to time if u change setup again… My experience is that…the game resets (when game crashes in mod…and other situations) but it will reset from this file -> etmain/profiles/youname/etconfig.cfg

…also…ure ETpro specific vars…will offcourse be lost by doing this…(shouldnt be a big hassle, if u as i recommend, keep all ur vars in a seperate “mysetup.cfg”)
