Not all video cards need to render to a seperate buffer, for instance Kyro cards run just fine with that set to GL_FRONT as well.

Other cards, it just ‘disables’ rendering anything at all effectively.

The rest of those suggestions are quite valid, but this one puzzles me.

No offence to the lads but I wish people would spend more time playing the game than actually dissecting it in order to gain some sort of advantage. And it fuckin’ is just to get the upper hand as well. The number of times in regular wolfy I have heard people say that the new tweaks they are using make the game look like shite but their ratio is gonna go through the roof. Lets face facts here people graphical “tweaking” of the game above and beyond that which can be done through the regular menu and friggin’ monitor brightness is CHEATING plain and simple and I used to hate it in wolfy whenever some BASTARD would be shootin’ the shit outta the UDG (User Defined Graphic (a la ZX Spectrum) not even sprite quality) known as [=O=]SMYLER with the oh so accurate MP40 from a distance of 3 miles away and all I could see was bullets (although most likely not) comin’ out of the nvidia fog straight at my head.

Anyone who denies it is cheating is talking out of their arse, God told me that in a dream so it must be true, he said tweaking was invented by Satan and he is a proper cunt.

SMYLER, you seem to be confusing tweaking and cheating.
Tweaking the game to perfom better, and tweaking the game to do something it shouldn’t, are to different things.

Doing what the original poster of this topic did, and taking away fog, are two CHEATS. Tweaking the game to run better (as you seem to be against) is not cheating.

If all tweaking is cheating, why aren’t all cvars cheat protected?

It displays each polygon to the screen as soon as it is received (neglecting batching in the driver), rather than building the whole screen in an offscreen buffer and then swapping them. Hmmm maybe the kyros occlusion culling tricks make that look OK…

Anyway, it can give you a very shitty wallhack. Doubtful whether it would be usable as such, but I didn’t seen any legitimate reason for a player to render to front. If it is actually a performance boost for kyros, than admins might want to take that into consideration.

I mean could you imagine the uproar with those all day and night racing drivers if one team wore infra red goggles.

I also don’t remember image intensifiers being around in the early to mid forties :???: .

Oh yeah and the 64MB Kyro II is a VERY good card imo. I used to have one it was lovely.

So you’ve managed to turn what was normally a very nice looking game into something horrendous that only helps you find someone that’s about to come around the corner, and totally hinders and long range sight.

It still doesn’t help you predict my sniper bullet hitting your forehead, nor does it protect one’s boot from kicking your stupid ass off their server the moment they see you.

While you may think so, my point was the game designers do not share your opinion. The proof is just what I said, some are cheat protected, some aren’t; if all were cheating, all would be protected.
