ET crosshair and mouse sensitivity

What mouse sensitivity and type and colour of crosshair do you pros reccoment to a newbie?

I run at mouse sensitivity at 1.97 and I use the plain red dot for crosshairs

Sensitivity of 2.5-3 depending on how lazy I am.
I usually use a 32 size dot with crosshair health on…so I know when to scream for a medic without having to move my eyes.

As small a dot as is a solid block of colour. Cyan, magenta, red and white are popular colours because they’re not often found in levels. I like magenta as it shows up well in arctic.
Mouse sens means nothing as it depends on your windows. I like low sens for all games. Some people like surprisingly high (but still low) for games with lots of twitch.

Most important thing to do is turn off mouse acceleration in XP. Go google about for the registry changes needed. Its the second most useful thing I did to improve my skill, the most important being practice.

There is no golden rule…

I use:
Sensitivity: 8 (800dpi mouse)
Crosshair: magenta dot

I have my sensitivity set to 1, which on my mouse gives me about a 270 turn in around 6 inches (around the space that my mouse has on my desk).

For my crosshair, I use a red or green dot (small) with a full white circular surround. I have the surround set at around 60% translucency.

My sensititvity is higher than I’d recomend. Use a red dot with a small green circle around it at around 50% transparancy.

I remember at one point I had 67 as my sensitivity on Quake 1. Then when I changed mouse drivers I had to set it to 53.

There’s way too much involved on your mouse settings (including mouse acceleration) for sensitivity to be something you can ask people around.

Just learn to play with the default value for some time and then tweak it.
